The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters). 

The logistics team provides end-to-end integrated logistics solutions designed, deployed and executed to support Caterpillar’s global footprint of manufacturing plants, suppliers, distribution centers and dealers. Capabilities include:   

  • Packaging Design and Returnable Container Management  

  • Inbound International and Domestic Transportation  

  • Logistics Network Operations – including Manufacturing Parts Nodes, Site Logistics and Cross Dock Operations  

  • Outbound Logistics – International and Domestic: Specialized Cargo and Product Distribution Solutions 

Job Summary

As a Transportation Analyst, you will have primary responsibility for aftermarket parts shipments in and out of the Miami Lakes distribution center.  The Miami Lakes distribution center serves Caterpillar Dealers with stock and emergency aftermarket parts orders to Latin American dealers.

This position is located in Miami Lakes, FL and does not provide relocation

This position typically requires 10% or less travel

What You Will Do 

  • Responsible for transportation operations for inbound and outbound shipments for the Miami Lakes Distribution Center (DC). 

  • Drive improvements for outbound delivery performance for air and ocean shipments from the Distribution Center to Latin American dealers

  • Collaborate with Caterpillar's Latin American dealers on international shipping optimization and problem resolution.

  • Manage the performance and requirements of the onsite jockey services

  • Coordinate problem resolution with approved Transportation Service Providers (ocean carriers, ground carriers, freight forwarders) with regards to the transportation network 

  • Provides analytical insights and reporting to leadership and internal/external customers to generate fact driven solutions and drive operational excellence

  • Identifies, analyzes, develops, and administers the implementation of improved transportation methods that support Caterpillar's cost, quality, and velocity objectives 

  • Uses tools such within the TMS (Transportation Management System) and Microsoft Excel, Access, and Visio to drive transportation tracking and process flow improvements  

What You Will Have

  • Spanish language fluency

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

  • Transportation: Knowledge of and experience with the means of transporting materials and goods to and from suppliers, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and customers the manufacturing facility.

  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies.

Top Candidates Will Always Have: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience in international transportation involving imports or exports

  • Ability to work independently  

  • Working knowledge of logistics software: JDA TM / Blue Yonder, TW Slot, InforNexus, TIS, SAP/MACH 1 

  • Working knowledge of warehousing systems: SAP EWM

  • Working knowledge of Caterpillar Parts systems: PartsViz, Antares

  • Experience with Microsoft based applications: PowerPoint, Excel, Access (specifically Excel application functionality experience with data analysis V Lookups, and pivot tables)
