Summary

The Sr. Manager, Operations & Proposals core function is to play a leading role in enabling MacCready Works (MW) expansive growth by leading critical operations and proposal functions.  This position requires trusted and agile leadership, disciplined initiative and a strong desire to create disruptive value for our customers and stakeholders. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Operations Leadership:

    • Leads MW Growth organization’s operations function to enable and manage expansive MW growth.

    • Monitors and analyzes MW operational performance metrics to identify areas of improvement and recommend solutions to ensue optimized growth

    • Helps develop, manage and track a dynamic, multi-year pipeline of opportunities in various stages of maturity; reports as required to AV leadership.

    • Maximizes use of existing business operations tools (MS Teams, Salesforce, etc.) and implements new tools, as needed, to increase MW operations efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Implements processes and best practices, optimizes resources and streamlines operations to reduce inefficiencies and operational costs, and increase higher productivity and quality.

  • Proposal Development Leadership:

    • Assembles and synchronizes resources, skills and matrixed support functions to develop and deliver high-quality proposals in conformance to RFP requirements on schedule.

    • Leads and participates in color team reviews, accordingly to Shipley standards.

    • Creates compliance matrix and proposal outlines.

    • Manages overall content design, development and review as well as overseeing proposal production and delivery activities.

    • Works with Program Management, Pricing, and Capture Management to ensure clean execution of proposals and reviews.

    • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Other Responsibilities:

    • Leads cross-functional teams in planning and executing various projects as needed.

    • Exercises disciplined initiative; Receives very little instruction on day-to-day work and demonstrates ability to use independent judgment in solving issues or making decisions.

    • Builds and delivers presentations and briefings for and to executives.

    • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

    • Supports strategic planning and long-term growth strategies. 

    • Ensures compliance with all applicable, AV policies and applicable U.S. Government laws and regulations.

    • As MW’s growth organization develops, manages the performance of personnel and provides leadership, mentoring and development opportunities. 

    • Anticipates and executes with agility in an environment of shifting priorities, demands and timelines.

    • Develops a solid understanding of MW technologies (Computer Vision, Machine Learning, HAPS, Novel Systems, Space Robotics, etc).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • Bachelors degree is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience working in Federal Government proposal development using the Shipley or equivalent proposal process and developing storyboards, mock-ups, proposal outlines

  • Minimum 4 years experience leading people.

  • Experienced in the aerospace or defense industry and a clear understanding of the Business Development life-cycle.

  • Demonstrated proposal writing experience with comprehensive knowledge of compliance matrices and generating volume outlines.

  • Demonstrates strong computer skills and proficiency with office software, productivity tools and other software tools on one’s area of expertise; proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to work on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

  • Ability to exercise judgment, strategic thinking, and best practices to determine appropriate action, yet also creatively thinks outside the box to find solutions to never-solved problems.

  • Brings organizational values to life using personality, uniqueness and the creation of a shared vision.

  • Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain internal and external trusting, professional relationships.

  • Demonstrates high caliber of communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 30%.

  • Current government secret clearance or ability to obtain clearance.

The salary range for this role is:

$135,355 - $192,150
