As a member of the NAB London legal team, you will provide legal services primarily to NAB Europe S.A which is the French subsidiary of National Australia Bank (“NAB Europe”).You will advise on a broad range of legal issues related to corporate law and governance, financial regulation and licensing, contract law, information security and data privacy law in the EU.  You will also be expected to assist NAB Europe’s Corporate Finance activities which will include a variety of transactional activities including syndicated lending, specialised asset finance, funds finance and other structured finance transactions.

You will also be expected to assist with supporting the Corporate Finance activities of NAB LB and where required wider NAB Group activities.

Core Responsibilities:

With respect to NAB Europe and where required NAB LB business operations (with a focus on corporate law, financial regulation and corporate finance transactions):

• delivering accurate, commercially relevant, timely, and strategic legal advice on complex areas of the law (both contentious and non-contentious);

• advising on and facilitating transactions and projects at a strategic level, including, where appropriate, reviewing legal documentation to ensure legal compliance, management of legal risks and reduce the potential for legal claims;

• monitor and supervise external legal advisers, manage panel relationships, facilitate communication with end users, identify process improvements/efficiencies, evaluate performance and contain/monitor costs;

• support the Head of Legal, on all material matters on a timely basis, including those involving regulatory, reputational and operational risk exposures;

• In-house trusted advisor to relevant business, risk and management teams;

• Undertakes regular post qualification training to maintain sound understanding of current legal developments affecting the NAB Businesses; particularly in relation to laws and regulations relating to Corporate Finance but also Markets business activities.

Provide support and training to members of the wider London Legal Team, both formal and informal

Experience, skills and knowledge:

• Qualified solicitor with experience in the legal department of a major bank or corporation.

• Proven ability and openness to provide support across a diverse range of legal work required to support our NAB businesses from time to time.

• Any experience in the following specialities: leveraged, energy & infrastructure or project finance, work-outs, restructuring and insolvency, LMA transactional documentation (leveraged and investment grade) and market practice, corporate lending, funds finance, banking litigation and professional negligence.

Qualification requirement:

•Practising avocat of France (or other appropriate jurisdiction) with 10 + years PQE in a top-    tier firm or an in-house environment of a leading financial institution
