About you and this role

Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity for Shift Activity Coordinator role locating in Las Pinas site, Philippines.

The Shift Activity Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of production shifts to ensure that production targets, safety standards, and quality controls are consistently met. The role involves coordinating activities, managing resources, monitoring performance, and solving issues as they arise during the shift. The coordinator will also work closely with the Production Engineer and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Responsibilities


1 Shift Operations Management:
◦ Ensure that production targets are met during each shift by coordinating manpower, equipment, and materials.
◦ Monitor workflow to ensure that production schedules are maintained and address any issues that may cause delays.
◦ Communicate production goals, expectations, and any changes to shift personnel.

  • Tracks and utilizes the plant's key performance metrics on shift that are applicable to the Operating the Plant role to optimize operations and identify improvement opportunities. Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and operating discipline
  • Works with shift team members and other shift teams to leverage skills and knowledge to balance workload ensuring assigned tasks are completed by due dates.
  • Performs scheduled operational and related tasks and tasks that arise as a result of resolving unplanned events.


2 Team Coordination:
◦ Coordinate the activities of production operators, ensuring that all personnel are working efficiently and safely.
◦ Address personnel issues that arise during the shift, including absence, task assignments, and performance.
◦ Act as the point of contact between shift workers and management, communicating updates, changes, and instructions.

  • Mentors and trains new and existing operations personnel on process operation, troubleshooting and the use of operating discipline in alignment to plant's training process.
  • Conducts effective shift relief, as defined in facility specific operating discipline and tools, to ensure effective communication and handoff to arriving shift team


3 Quality Control & Compliance:
◦ Ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures, conducting routine checks to ensure that products meet specifications.
◦ Ensure that employees follow all safety protocols, and promptly address any unsafe conditions or practices.

  • Operates and field checks process equipment. Monitors process conditions, key performance metrics, equipment and control systems and makes appropriate decisions to maintain and/or achieve desired rates and conditions aligned with Plant/Site/Business goals. 


4 Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting:
◦ Respond quickly to any issues that arise during the shift, including equipment malfunctions, material shortages, or staffing problems.
◦ Coordinate with the maintenance team and other departments to address and resolve operational issues in a timely manner.

  • Performs Immediate Response activities, as assigned.  


5 Reporting & Documentation:
◦ Maintain accurate records of shift performance, including production output, downtimes, issues encountered, and resolutions.
◦ Report shift activity to the Site Operations Leader, providing insights and recommendations for improving efficiency and performance.


6 Continuous Improvement:
◦ Identify areas for improvement in the production process and collaborate with management to implement changes that improve efficiency and reduce waste.
◦ Engage with cross-functional teams to optimize production flow and resource allocation.

  • Proactively identifies improvements and opportunities utilizing the facility improvement processes, appropriate management of change processes and communication tools. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred), or a related technical field.
  • Candidates with significant relevant experience in lieu of a degree will also be considered.
  • 3-10 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment of Chemical industry, preferably in a coordination role.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Familiarity with general manufacturing processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Proficient in oral/written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate shift teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
