Citi Finance is responsible for the firm’s financial management and related controls. We manage and partner on key Citi initiatives and deliverables, such as our quarterly earnings process and ensuring Citi’s compliance with financial rules and regulations. The team comprises chief financial officers who partner with each of our businesses and disciplines including controllers, financial planning and analysis, strategy, investor relations, tax and treasury.

We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Officer, Financial Controller - Hybrid based in the Philippines. Banking controllers is part of the wider Finance Organization supporting the Banking business which includes Investment Banking and Corporate Lending. 

We are primarily responsible for controlling daily profit and loss reporting, fee reviews and trading activity for the Investment Banking business. We work closely across functions on a daily basis (including Front Office business, bankers / relationship managers, Risk Management, Middle Office, Operations and other areas of Finance) and develop a deep understanding of the products traded, along with the associated market risks and accounting complexities.

In this position you will use and expand your experience and professional skills for the following responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the end-to-end banking controller process, including daily P&L preparation and related activities: reconciliations, review and analyze new trades, associated risks and the P&L generated, also understand and analyze the P&L coming from market moves on the existing books, fees and other revenue items.  Also covers understanding and review of balance sheet items for business coverage.
  • Work closely with various areas of the Finance department, liaising with the Front Office, Business Unit Managers, Bankers / Relationship managers, Risk Management, Operations, Middle Office and IT teams
  • Use effective escalation to ensure issues are highlighted in a timely manner. Focus on recurring issues and drive through enhancement projects and systems fixes
  • Support standardization efforts and work on strategic as well as ad-hoc projects to improve Citi’s finance system infrastructure and to implement process improvement ideas
  • Develop an enquiring and questioning mind-set.
  • Exploit a collaborative and motivating attitude to join forces with colleagues for excellent results

The ideal candidate for this position preferably possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • At least 2-4 years of relevant professional experience
  • A university or college degree in Finance/Accounting is an advantage but not a must.
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Confident analytical and communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills. (Training will be provided on other in-house and industry standard systems used in this position.)
  • Knowledge of or demonstrated interest in financial markets and products.
  • Audit background relevant to finance is also an advantage.
