Iterative, as an organization, has 4 distinct functions and as a result, a team for each function.

  1. Recruiting – Find startups for Iterative to invest in

  2. Investments – Decide whether Iterative should invest in a startup

  3. Iterative Founders – Help the founders Iterative has invested in

  4. Support – Make Iterative a first class organization

Iterative is currently a team of 13 and growing quickly across each of these teams.

Role Overview

The Senior Associate / Vice President at Iterative will be a key member of the Investments Team. This is a partner-track investing role in one of the top-performing early-stage VCs in Southeast Asia.

In this role, you will hone your early-stage venture investing skillsets by working directly with our Head of Investments and General Partners. Thousands of companies apply to Iterative every year, but we only invest in 15-20 companies each batch. Your job will be to ensure we are making the best, informed investment decisions while delivering a best-in-class founder experience throughout our investment process.

Your Responsibilities

  • New Deal Evaluation — Evaluate potential investment opportunities by conducting initial screening calls, completing due diligence and participating in Investment Committee meetings.

  • Due Diligence — Prepare well-researched memos, market research reports and other materials that guide the team to make high-quality, well-informed investments.

  • Thesis Development — Develop and refine theses on various technology sectors and emerging trends; help the fund develop a “prepared mind” by contributing to our knowledge base and research initiatives.

  • Portfolio Management and Follow-On Investments — Track performance of portfolio companies and evaluate select portfolio companies for additional follow-on investment.

  • Projects — Take on special projects with the aim of achieving the Investment Team’s overarching goal: to make great, informed investments at scale while delivering a best-in-class founder experience.

Who You Are

  • Investing Track Record in Southeast Asia — You already have a track record of successful investments in high-growth technology startups in SEA, either from prior VC experience or from individual angel investing. You have clear and demonstrated interest in technology, startups and VC.

  • Strong Analytical Thinking — You are an extremely analytical thinker who is able to synthesize complex information using excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Quantitative and Financial Modeling — You are comfortable with quantitative and financial analysis and equipped with strong financial modeling skillsets.

  • Ecosystem Relationships — You have built and nurtured strong relationships across the Southeast Asia technology and startup ecosystem. You have founders, domain experts and others who have more experience in areas you are trying to understand.

  • Nice To Have

    • Prior Founder / Startup Operating Experience — You previously founded or worked in a high-growth technology startup.

    • Local Language — You speak Bahasa, Filipino, Vietnamese or one of the major Southeast Asian languages.

Culture

These are the Iterative values. They’re not for everyone but if they speak to you, you might be just what we’re looking for.

  1. Iterate or Die – We take this literally. Ship early, get continuous feedback, and boldly experiment. If not the organization will die.

  2. Empathy is Our Competitive Advantage – Our success depends on our ability to empathize with other people in the organization and the community.

  3. Be Realistically Ambitious – The best strategy for making a big impact is to be realistic, have a plan and be ambitious.

  4. Responsibility is a Privilege, Not a Right – Being part of Iterative means being given responsibility for a part of our business. Be a good steward of that responsibility by being accountable, diligent and open-minded.
