The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location for our GES Global Engineering Services division.

The Abbott Employee Safety Group (ESG) Life Safety Senior Specialist – Executive Protection is responsible for the formulation, coordination and delivery of Abbott’s Protective Programs, including executive protection (EP) travel safety, employee situational/personal safety awareness), threat management and special event security.

What You’ll Work On

The ESG Specialist – Executive Protection is accountable for all aspects of daily ESG operations and the implementation of security manpower/staffing/logistics support:

  • Reports to the ESG Protective Programs Manager
  • Provides support, strategic planning and logistics coordination regarding all Protective Program areas as well as all related training
  • Implements employee travel safety and executive protection monitoring and operational support
  • Travels to support security operations before/during/after designated special events and EP assignments (40% travel)
  • Executes programs that promote safe and secure employee travel worldwide
  • Meets regularly with internal/external Global Security partners to build/maintain positive and effective working relationships
  • Develops and executes Special Event/EP logistics planning review/approval
  • Develops and executes ESG database and webpage content
  • Available for after-hours security response as needed
  • Serves as a liaison with Abbott C-Suite administrative support, internal and external private sector counterparts, law enforcement officials and government partners
  • Delivers other security support services as assigned by Divisional Vice President for Global Security

Accountability and Scope

This position is based at Abbott Park, Illinois, and is both domestic and international in scope. It is accountable through the ESG Manager to the Director/Life Safety -Protective Programs. Expected travel is 40%.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ years relevant experience in public/private sector executive protection and/or physical/personal security support; law enforcement, military and/or private industry with accreditation
  • Prior experience in manpower logistics and intelligence management in support of personal/physical protective services within a corporate environment
  • Proven experience in executive protection advance methodology and special event security panning
  • Demonstrated knowledge in incident reporting and metrics development
  • Prior experience in crisis management, emergency response and contingency planning
  • Strong understanding of physical security systems technology
  • Strong technical aptitude, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Visio
  • Proven ability to identify and manage critical incidents and issues quickly, under adverse conditions, both accurately and with limited supervisory oversight
  • Strong interpersonal/collaboration skills and ability to positively influence teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant law enforcement/military experience and/or private industry with accreditation
  • Business continuity/emergency response experience within a government or corporate environment, domestically and overseas
  • Demonstrated ability to mediate and resolve conflict
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate corporate landscape and successfully manage personal interaction at the highest levels
  • First responder/emergency aid accreditation
  • Proven ability to perform under high pressure situations
  • Proven ability to operate in diverse, multicultural, multinational environments

The base pay for this position is

$75,300.00 – $150,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
