Engineering Manager | Farm Heroes Saga

General Overview:

Farm Heroes Saga is one of King’s beloved casual mobile games and home to all kinds of heroes. We foster an open, inclusive and dynamic environment where people can focus on creating exceptional experiences for our players. 

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our team, with flexibility to be based in Stockholm, Malmo, Berlin, London or Barcelona. We are looking for an experienced people manager and senior software engineer whose primary focus will be to manage a team of 5-7 software engineers within an Area, and a secondary focus of individual contribution to that Area. 

The Engineering Manager is a specialist in software development, capable of designing and implementing end-to-end solutions with their teams, communicating and working directly with the business, other functions and teams; identifying dependencies, blockers and tradeoffs.

Core Responsibilities:

Leadership 

• You are line manager for the engineers in your team(s), take complete ownership of the employee lifecycle and drive all people related processes
• You develop, mentor and grow software engineers in your team(s)
• Continuous improvement of all talent- related processes and contribute to strategic areas of improvement related to our talent
• You gather feedback from the software engineers in your team(s) on how to improve developer experience, and provide that feedback to the leadership teams
• You support leadership teams in change management processes, like introducing new processes or organizational changes 
• You actively promote a culture of ownership, autonomy, trust, collaboration and continuous improvement with your direct reports and you are a role model for King cultural values

Communication

• You are able to encourage an open and humble feedback culture.
• You improve your teams' communication and collaboration effectiveness, facilitating cross-functional and cross-business unit alignment, providing clear and timely information to all stakeholders, and driving informed decision-making
• You actively seek knowledge in order to improve your skills and your ways of working from more senior members
• You actively promote and facilitate knowledge sharing, and take steps to ensure that critical information is easily accessible to all.
• Your verbal and written communication is excellent, and you can adjust your level to any audience.

Contribution

• You proactively contribute towards team health discussions and are a role model to other team members.
• You represent your immediate team and own its design and feature decisions.
• You focus on end-to-end delivery of a functional and high-quality part of the product or system, collaborating with the business to optimize its value for both end-users and the company.

Technical expertise

• You apply relevant software engineering concepts and architect complex systems
• You have in depth knowledge of the principal language or toolkit used and understand the tradeoffs of implementing different technical paths
• You contribute to the investigation and mitigation of live incidents and enable detection and prevention mechanisms against future issues
• You have knowledge of multiple systems within the products you are developing as well as outside dependencies
• You are accountable for the quality of your immediate team's work and the overall end to end delivery of systems you are part of developing

Skills:

• Experienced leader with a passion for building and leading high-performing, motivated teams while mentoring and nurturing individual growth.
• Deep knowledge of C++ and a strong technical background in software engineering, with expertise in designing and delivering complex, scalable solutions.
• Solid understanding of modern software delivery practices, enabling teams to efficiently deliver high-quality products.
• Ability to align team goals with broader business objectives, solve complex challenges, and contribute to long-term strategic initiatives.
• Comfortable navigating and leading through change, managing uncertainty, and helping teams adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and managing multiple stakeholders to drive shared success.
• Strong communication skills, capable of delivering clear messages to both technical and non-technical audiences, while providing valuable coaching and feedback.
