The Financial Master Data SME will create and maintain financial master data in necessary systems and in accordance with company policies, procedures, master data processes, and master data governance model. The SME will also support maintaining policy-aligned approval tables within systems needing to consume such data. Decision-making and solving problems of in-depth scope and complexity required to achieve quality execution and adherence to master data process and governance. This position will also support the reviewing, improving, and identifying of opportunities for innovation and within the established master data maintenance processes. The responsibilities of this role incorporate a variety of functions concurrently for maintenance of the master data that is essential to the company financial statements.
Additionally, this position will be also supporting the different project implementations where the FMD support is needed. coordinating efforts with stakeholders related with the creation and maintenance of the Finance Master Data and the mapping maintenance.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
1. Create and maintain financial master data to support business processes (including but not limited to: approval flow mapping, Chart of Accounts for GL Accounts and Cost Elements, Cost Centers and Cost Center standard hierarchy, Profit Centers and Profit Center standard hierarchy, bank keys, foreign exchange rates, and financial statement versions) in accordance with company policy, including approver maintenance for Viatris’ Global E-Procurement tool, Legal Contracts Management tool, and invoice approval routing / reconciliation tool.
2. Support collection of master data, related financial reporting mapping and all related approval mapping to support a variety of systems requirements
3. Ensure master data is evaluated and created in such a way that processes will function efficiently, effectively and in accordance with company policy.
4. Manage requests from users for new master data and changes to existing master data.
5. Track assigned financial master data requests from users and prioritize requests according to set guidelines and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
6. Maintain and update associated training material, process documentation and forms related to collection and maintenance of financial master data.
7. Implement and maintain effective communications with key internal and external partners.
8. Maintain effective communications with core FMD virtual team.
9. Provide master data guidance and training when appropriate.
10. Solve issues / scenarios and perform data and risk analysis of varying complexity (low, medium and high) following established policies and procedures in order to reach a logical conclusion/solution to a request.
11. Support and participate in master data maintenance activities related to system implementations, upgrades, enhancements, integrations, legal entity consolidations and other various business driven projects.
12. Support and ensure adherence to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
13. Support core FMD virtual team in efforts outside of normal business as usual tasks; namely: integrations, enhancements and business directives.
14. Identify process improvement opportunities.
15. Support ERP project implementations, coordinate effort with stakeholders and business in order support these projects from the FMD perspective.
16. Support Canada Rebates maintenance process cases for Canada Pricing and Sales team. Trouble shooting and process urgent request is part of the support needed.
17. Support CFA activities and process related.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
Knowledge
Awareness of systems and requirements relating to master data processing – forms, approvals, and policy.
Knowledge of chart of accounts and maintenance – account types, normal balances, where and how used.
Knowledge of Hyperion or other financial reporting tools and their master data maintenance activities.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite -- particularly Excel and Outlook -- and related tools.
Awareness of internal controls and mitigations (SOX Compliance).
Awareness of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (USGAAP).
Experience in the following business areas preferred: Finance, Accounting or Financial Planning & Analysis. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
SAP experience preferred.
Skills And Abilities
Ability to understand multi-dimensional approval matrices and translate to system approval rules.
Ability to interpret and analyze customer requests and make master data recommendations to achieve accurate and policy-aligned execution.
Ability to see the macro and micro view of requests and determine best course for implementation.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Ability to communication and interact clearly, effectively, and professionally in English with core FMD virtual team and a diverse group of global users verbally and in written form.
Ability to collect data and perform data and risk analysis to reach a logical conclusion/solution to a request.
Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues related to finance master data.
Ability to rank and prioritize work for timely delivery.
Ability to meet individual and department deadlines with minimal supervision.
Ability to plan, organize and execute master data maintenance in accordance with established procedures.
Ability to create and manage related process documentation.
Possess strong organizational skills for managing requests from across the globe.
Education/Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in experience (2 – 4 years of experience). Experience in finance related industry for 2 - 4 years. Experience in data analytics and auditing preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents.
Ability to write business correspondence in English.
Ability to work with groups of people such as other departments and communicate known concepts.
Ability to present to a group.
Mathematical Skills
Basic math skills required. Ability to solve equations, apply technical mathematical concepts, and perform complex computations of varying complexity.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply logic and quantitative reasoning. Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to all scenarios.
