In this vital role you will operate within a dynamic business critical environment and would be primarily responsible for document creation and contract management of key provider customer contracts from request to completion, leading contract data for owned accounts in our contract lifecycle management (CLM) database, data entry accuracy and ensuring the system reflects key terms in the completed final contract, and collaborating with cross-functional team members to ensure key controls in the contracting process are met.

Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities

The Contract Development Mgr. will be a “contract writer” on the Provider Contracting team, a part of U.S. Value & Access (USV&A). Provider Contracting supports the Coverage and Pricing (C&P), Contracts and Pricing Execution (CPE), and Law teams in developing and implementing customer contract strategies that enable access to Amgen products in furtherance of Amgen’s mission to serve patients. We are looking for a business and/or legal professional who is an outstanding writer and can translate discount strategies, structures, and details from discussions and reference materials into controlling, legal documents.

This role is remote, but some working hours during U.S. Pacific time zone are necessary.

  • Draft and edit agreements, amendments, notice letters, etc. and navigate review/approval cycles with cross-functional teams
  • Draft custom contract language specifically for new pricing strategies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to harmonize contract documents with operations, implementation, timelines, and to provide insight and anticipate future needs
  • Participate in the document management process and interact with several cross-functional groups, including Payer/Provider Contracting, Law, and Government Programs
  • Project manage planned and ad-hoc special projects within USV&A
  • Identify and provide contract documents in support of internal and external audits and litigation
  • Duties include extensive document management in our CLM system, reporting activities and metrics to leadership, handling customer document files, conducting document review meetings, presenting customer and contract document status and history to partners and certifying that key process controls have been met

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate Degree

Or

Master’s degree and 2 commercial contracting, sales operations, finance and/or analytics experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 4 commercial contracting, sales operations, finance and/or analytics experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 commercial contracting, sales operations, finance and/or analytics experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of commercial contracting, sales operations, finance and/or analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (i.e. MBA or JD)
  • Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology experience
  • Exposure to the US commercial and government healthcare and reimbursement environment
  • Strong organizational skills and communication skills
  • Ability to read, draft, edit and understand legal contract documents, ideally for Pharma
  • Ability to manage and deliver results in a highly fluid, fast paced, interactive, matrixed environment
  • Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology experience
  • Ability to synthesize complex information, extract significant facts and communicate to broader team

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
