NVIDIA is a global leader in the field of AI, computer graphics, PC gaming and accelerated computing. The Thermal/Mechanical Manufacturing Team at NVIDIA is dedicated to the excellence in New Product Introduction (NPI) for mechanical and thermal components and assemblies. We have an immediate opening for Manager, Mechanical Manufacturing, Datacenter Compute Products. The mission is to ensure the seamless integration of design and manufacturing processes. As a pivotal part of our team, you will lead the advancement of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles, alongside spearheading initiatives to incorporate Manufacturing for Design (MFD) solutions. Your role involves fostering a collaborative environment with NVIDIA's hardware engineering teams, component suppliers, and Contract Electronics Manufacturers (CEM), to devise comprehensive manufacturing solutions using industry standard process from the concept design phase through to mass production. We are looking for individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment and are not afraid to roll-up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. We desire a self-starter, with great communication skills as well as a leader, with a deep sense of commitment.
What you’ll be doing:
Implement NVIDIA mechanical manufacturing strategy, contribute to the broader vision and translate it into meaningful bits for your organization.
Manage a team of experienced engineers and mentor new engineers in a dynamic technology driven environment, lead the team providing technical guidance and career mentorship.
Build positive relationship with leaders of cross functional product teams, including suppliers and CEM partners to perform detailed DFM and DFA analysis, develop manufacturing solutions and to efficiently support NVIDIA innovations.
Drive projects from exploration to implementation, provide guidance and delivery of projects. Provide product status update, communicate issues internally, make tough trade-offs and articulate your judgements.
Provide manufacturability feasibility analysis, present options and ensure the products meet the optimal balance of performance, quality, scalability, re-use, reliability, cost and time-to-market.
Look for continuous improvements to workflows and development methodologies.
What we need to see:
B.S. degree, or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or material science
10+ overall years of equivalent experience and 3+ years of experience in leading or managing mechanical/thermal manufacturing activities, proven leadership track record.
Highly motivated, creative, proactive, and adaptable with excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, ability to think outside of box, leverage and scalability, meeting deadlines, priority management skills across multiple tasks.
Positive interpersonal communication skills, ability to lead multi-functional efforts.
Deep understanding of hardware design architecture, mechanical manufacturing process flow, good manufacturing practice and how to build successful products in large-scale environments.
Global awareness of the relevant datacenter industry manufacturing limitations, the industry partners and competitors, expertise in commonly used mechanical manufacturing technologies, and thermal-mechanical, acoustic and ID impacts.
Detail oriented and comfortable multitasking in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and changing requirements, excellent project management skills and solid ability to prioritize, ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple projects.
Working knowledge of modern mechanical design tools preferably Creo or solidworks, proficient with commonly used testing, inspection method and instrument
Team oriented with a "can do" attitude, highly enthusiastic in solving multi-disciplinary challenges.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
An eye for attention to detail but a focus on empowering the team.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-cultural and muti-functional teams
Ability to take practical steps towards a vision
Experience in functional tolerancing, GD&T, SPC, system assembly/testing, and a solid grasp of NPI processes.
Relevant design experience in data center product design is highly desirable.
You will also be eligible for equity and benefits. NVIDIA accepts applications on an ongoing basis.
