At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth’s orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space.
As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will facilitate configuration development of New Glenn Stage 1. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the design throughout the product lifecycle. Your passion for space means you’re committed to the vital quality and attention to detail required to support human space flight. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
In this role you will integrate between sub-systems within a stage and module to define the best design solutions for New Glenn Stage 1. You will manage the integrated design solution across the vehicle structural, mechanical, fluids and electrical subsystems withing the module. You will also support development of system requirements, requirement flow down, and verification planning. You will drive optimization of the product structure to support design and manufacturing. You will lead multi-functional trades and impact studies. You will be responsible for coordinating and presenting designs changes between affected sub-systems. You will assist in configuration management and in Engineering Change Requests (ECR’s). You will create and manage interface definitions between subsystems, modules and interfacing teams with appropriate model interface definition and interface control documents (ICDs).
To be successful in this role, you will need to facilitate and resolve integration and development issues between engineering teams. You must be able to ensure that the configuration supports major design reviews and integration landmarks. You will need to coordinate with manufacturing and tooling team to assess Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) of an integrated module. You will provide technical assistance to integration and testing activities. You will generate high-level assembly level drawings and be responsible for the design of hardware. You will create stage level assembly tolerance stackups and tolerance allocations. And you will verify that interfaces meet applicable Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing allocations and interface control models. You must ensure the team adheres to configuration management standard methodologies as well as Blue Origin configuration management standards. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
