This is a 12-month, full-time non-tenure track faculty member, reporting directly to the Physician Assistant Sciences Department Chair / Program Director. The successful candidate will provide support to the MMC PAS Program by fulfilling the following primary responsibilities: teaching during the didactic and clinical phase of the program, student advisement, active involvement in program evaluation, and involvement the PAS program admissions processes.

Teaching
•    Coordination and delivery of course content during the didactic phase
•    Evaluating student performance and providing remediation as needed
•    Academic counseling of students 
•    Assuring the availability of remedial instruction 
•    Designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the curriculum   

Administrative Academic Service & Research 
•    Participate in the MMC PAS admissions process, to include recruitment, application review, interviewing and selection of applicants for admission to the Program 
•    Participates in PA departmental committees, Ad-hoc meetings, commencement, convocation, community service for the PA Program and research development.
•    Developing, reviewing, and revising, as necessary, the Program’s mission statement, goals, and competencies 
•    Contributing to ongoing accreditation activities through program self-assessment/self-study as per ARC-PA and MMC standards
•    Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Program’s curriculum
•    Continuous faculty/professional development    
 

Clinical
•    Clinical release for Physician Assistant clinical practice for the maintenance of NCCAPA certification and state licensure, clinical development as faculty, and compliance with ARC-PA Standards.  
•    Performs other related duties as assigned.

•     Knowledge of ARC-PA Accreditation Standards 
•    Effective verbal and written communication skills 
•    Strong organizational and time management skills 
•    Knowledge of accounting principles and documented procedures 
•    Experience in grant writing and research preferred 
•    Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts
•    Ability to engage with current and potential students about the PA profession, and the MMC PA Program


Required Education and Experience

•    Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA program 
•    Relevant Master’s Degree from an accredited institution 
•    Doctoral degree preferred but not required 
•    Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
•    Tennessee Medical License or be eligible to apply for a Tennessee medical license.
•    Minimum of five (5) years of clinical PA practice experience 
•    Minimum of three (3) years of Physician Assistant education experience
