About the role

As a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will collaborate with the Senior Director of Software Engineering and work alongside peers, including Managers, Senior Managers, Directors, and Senior Directors across various teams, to drive key initiatives. Our engineering organization consists of five teams with approximately 30 engineers, ranging from junior to senior levels, dedicated to revolutionizing how users search and find their perfect home.
 

In this role, you will:

  • Support multiple engineering and product teams within the Search & Discover Experience organization, facilitating the development of innovative tools, systems, and applications.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams across the Customer Engineering and Services (CES) organization, including Shopping, Growth, Mobile & Web Platform teams, Customer AI, and Rentals.
  • Manage the lifecycle and execution of critical initiatives, ensuring seamless collaboration between teams and effective communication across functions.
  • Develop standard methodologies for improving operational efficiencies and customize program management processes to align with the specific requirements of the team.
  • Drive large-scale programs to achieve organizational goals, maintaining and reporting on program status, and identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Engage with leadership effectively and propose enhancements to system architecture and technical designs, focusing on workflows, APIs, runtime characteristics, and quality support requirements.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the Search & Discover leadership team, challenging our thinking while supporting execution.
     

Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex, multi-functional technology initiatives at both tactical and strategic levels.
  • Assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, balance business needs versus technical constraints, and refine scope for timely project delivery.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate challenges and risks in technical strategies and program execution.
  • Independently create and deliver functional specifications or frameworks to ensure successful project execution.
  • Recommend improvements to system architecture and technical designs within the program domain.
  • Advance strategic visions for technical-led initiatives and drive innovation within the organization.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $140,900.00 - $225,100.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • You bring 5+ years of demonstrated experience in software program management, including leading significant multi-functional projects in mid-large size companies.
  • You possess a solid understanding of current web development technologies, distributed architecture, and agile development methodologies. Mobile experience is a plus.
  • You excel in clear and concise communication with teams and collaborators and have strong listening skills.
  • You demonstrate exceptional organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • You are proactive in problem-solving, identifying, and mitigating challenges early on.
  • You quickly assimilate Zillow Group’s values, structure, and technical landscape.
  • You excel at quickly establishing trust and collaboration with collaborators and team members.
