Using an analytical and collaborative mindset, you will be responsible for the cost analysis of a project portfolio in various areas of the Commerce City Refinery, which is the largest refinery in the Rocky Mountain region and the only petroleum refinery in Colorado.

You will provide portfolio analysis, data management, and use Power BI and Excel to create visual data models and representations and provide stewardship reporting to refinery leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in cost analyst, project controls, or financial planning in a project-based environment
  • Proficiency with cost control systems and data visualization programs including Excel, Power BI, Primavera P6, SAP, EcoSys, Oracle, MS Project etc
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A post-secondary training course or diploma in a related field would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of earned value management
  • Ability to coach and influence with strong problem-solving skills
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA for the duration of your employment

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strong financial governance, accurate forecasting, and alignment with funding and gated approval processes
  • Provide cost analysis and cost control for projects with budgets between $100K and $10M
  • Support the development of cost control systems, tools, and procedures
  • Act as a resource person for the project engineering team, from project setup to project close-out
  • Use a collaborative approach to develop the project’s work breakdown structure for cost and schedule for integrity of work
  • Work with multi-disciplinary team of Suncor employees and partners (consulting firms, contractors)
  • Support effective communication and provide data analysis for senior stakeholders
  • Interface with finance to ensure financial procedures and processes are followed

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Commerce City refinery, located at 5455 Brighton Blvd.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • In alignment with Suncor’s value of Safety Above All Else, we conduct pre-employment drug testing, employment verification, education verification, background checks, and other pre-employment assessments as a condition of employment; Suncor is a drug and alcohol-free workplace

Salary/Hourly Rate and Compensation Details:

  • Annual salary range: $99,000 - $130,000; our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
  • Annual incentive (bonus) program with a 20% target
