About the Role

BJSS have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Commercial Finance to join the Senior Finance Team on an interim basis on an 18 month fixed term contract. Yours will be the Finance voice across all aspects of commercial finance and decision making and you will assume responsibility for commercial finance governance across the organisation.

We’re keen to hear from people that have had experience within a similar role and environment and are both technically sound and also able to face off to the business and positively challenge where appropriate.

This is a high-profile role within the business and the successful candidate will be expected to be a confident self-starter, have excellent engagement and business partnering skills, as well as a subject matter expert who is able to clearly articulate complex viewpoints to non-financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • This role will form part of the Senior Finance Management Team and play a key part in maintaining and improving to the financial governance of the organisation
  • You will work closely with a range of senior stakeholders including the Board, Senior Leadership Group, Heads of Delivery and Heads of Client Services
  • You will lead and develop the Commercial Finance team to deliver excellent service to finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Support commercial decision making from a Finance standpoint (deferring and escalating decision making where appropriate)
  • Establish credibility by being a trusted business partner to senior leaders within the organisation, with a focus on internal commercial stakeholders
  • Work closely with the international management and commercial teams in order to drive sustainable growth in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Provide accessible and in-depth commercial management information and KPI data
  • Develop and manage our internal investment case process
  • Support and drive revenue and margin growth initiatives
  • Maintain internal cost and rate cards
  • Establish discounting guidelines and standards
  • Work closely with the Senior Finance team to ensure a consistent approach and work towards achieving common goals
  • Deliver operational excellence, driving a culture of ongoing continual improvement and recommend areas for improvement

About You

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA). Below is a summary of the kind of skills necessary to succeed in this role. Whilst it would be great if you meet all of the requirements, we would still love to hear from you should you feel you can add value to the team.

  • Proven commercial acumen and negotiation skills gained through experience in a similar role and/or at a similar organisation
  • Strong communicator with the confidence to positively challenge, influence and support at all levels
  • Experience in managing senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience in continuous improvement and driving financial performance
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload across multiple priorities
  • Proven ability to scope and deliver projects
  • Team player and experience leading a high performing team
  • A keen attention to detail
  • Experienced Microsoft Excel user
  • Experience – Extensive experience post qualification, all or part of in a Commercial Finance role
