Job Functions

Leads the data design team responsible for translating source CAD data into fully configurable 3d models for downstream Marketing purposes.

  • Responsible for inspection of data for basic quality issues including topology and tessellation.
  • Organizes data within different 3D software packages.
  • Manages CAD data conversion methods and processes (NURBs data to polygonal models).
  • Responsible for color/materializing of geometry to production-design reference and specifications. Responsible for the removal of hidden “B-side” geometry from individual parts.
  • Guides the development and ongoing training of assigned team members.
  • Makes recommendations for continuous improvements by improving job quality, quantity and efficiency.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Has individual contributors or contractors.
  • Manages employees by establishing annual performance goals, allocating resources, assessing annual performance. 
  • Supervises and provides leadership, coaching, guidance, training and staff development; interviews and selects employees; counsels and disciplines employees as necessary; recommends termination when appropriate; and monitors attendance of subordinates.

Minimum Job Qualifications

Job Knowledge and Skill:

  • Excellent organizational skills, communication skills, problem solving skills and attention to detail.  Understands CAD data exchange methods and process.  General understanding of data conversion methods.  Understands data management standards and functions. Familiarity with principles of automotive manufacturing and assembly.

Experience:

  • Five to seven years of directly related professional level experience with progressively increasing responsibility (demonstrated experience in data coordination and database research).  General working knowledge of automobile systems via hands on repair experience and/or parts cataloging experience a plus. 

Education:

  • Advanced English
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred: Media Communications (Electronic/Digital Media), Graphic Design,  or related field.

Computer Skills:

  • CAD experience, Team Center Visualization Mockup, RTT DeltaGen, Autodesk Maya, Microsoft Excel, database experience, Design Notes
  • Ability to learn new software programs and quickly adapt to using them is a must.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete job based on a demanding timeline.  Troubleshoots problems independently and recognizes issues with the build or quality of data.
