Job Summary

Position responsible for preparing patients and the environment prior to surgery for the medical and nurse team.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred

Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in an operating room environment
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions as well as read and write in English
  • Ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assists with physical preparation of patient and physical environment according to the age/needs of the patient/population served.
  • Transports and transfers patients as necessary. Functions as a porter between departments ensuring required medical supplies, information, specimens, and products are delivered in a timely fashion
  • Demonstrates the ability to take on a leadership role and is proficient in all expectations of the role.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
