Inside the Role

This position is a key business partner for DTSV's Operations and Executive Management teams, focused on providing support, insights, and guidance that drives sound business decisions related to plant production, capacity planning, and investments for the school bus manufacturing segment (TBB). This position performs the essential functions of financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for TBB manufacturing operations, as well as supporting plant management with cost management, capital spending, and target-setting to drive sustainable profitability and future growth.

Key objectives for this role include supporting business partners in the day-to-day management of plant spending, providing guidance for the appropriate handling of capital and expenses, developing budgets, labor, and overhead rates, performing analytics on spend patterns using financial and BI tools, and supporting the business with strategic target-setting initiatives and KPI’s. This position will also be supporting the month-end close processes through analyses, journal entry postings, and expense reviews and analyses. The best candidate will be able to guide operations through critical financial and cost-based decisions with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.

Position offers a starting salary range of $108,000 - $139,000 USD  

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Support SV and Operations management by providing timely transparency to financial and operational performance at various manufacturing facilities
  • Analyze and report on impact of strategic decisions and business opportunities
  • Analyze and report on operational metrics and variances with a focus on actuals vs. budget and forecast
  • Support month-end close process by ensuring operational spend is recorded accurately and timely
  • Drive financial planning for production costs by leading budgeting process for Operations team, including training and support of Operations managers in the budgeting process
  • Develop, maintain, forecast, and plan manufacturing metrics, including labor, variable overhead, and material overhead (MOH) and associated rates
  • Develop and optimize system processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Manage budget for capital expenditures by working with the Ops teams to define, plan, and maintain processes that support capital acquisitions and disposals
  • Approve purchase requisitions for operations-related expenditures
  • Partner with Operations to promote and/or drive initiatives focused on Continuous Improvement and that support strategic KPI’s and targets
  • Develop and/or partner with IT to create, maintain, and visualize Operations metrics
  • Other ad hoc reporting and analyses

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 6 years of relevant experience in cost or manufacturing controlling, capital expense management, or equivalent controlling function
  • Management reporting experience with cost management, reporting, variance analyses, and budgeting principles and techniques
  • Strong analytical, technical, process, and problem-solving skills required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with emphasis on communicating within a matrix structure and across all levels of the company
  • 1 year of project or group lead experience
  • Experience with BI tools and systems (Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI, AQT, SQL, etc.)

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Expert level of DTNA systems knowledge (i.e. cbFC, Phoenix, Tagetik, AFE, A57, etc.)
  • Financial analysis experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Proficiency with BI tools and systems (Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI, SQL, etc.)
