Bangladesh, a country highly vulnerable to climate change, faces significant challenges in its Char lands (riverine islands), Haors (large wetlands), coastal regions, and urban slums. These areas are particularly at risk, with urban slums becoming refuges for climate migrants. Recognizing the urgent need to understand and address the impact of climate change on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes, Ipas has developed a comprehensive project plan. This initiative aims to explore evidence, devise solutions, and create intervention strategies focusing on women's sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). In collaboration with the Climate Change and Health Promotion Unit (CCHPU) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Ipas Bangladesh will develop strategies, intervention packages, and policy briefs. These efforts will support advocacy targeting government bodies, donors, and UN agencies, promoting policy adoption, intervention implementation, and resource mobilization. Furthermore, Ipas will spearhead advocacy efforts through a multi-pronged approach, working as an organization, in partnership with CCHPU, and collectively with the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Forum, guided by a carefully crafted advocacy plan and matrix.
The Program Associate-I will support Ipas Bangladesh's project on understanding and addressing the impact of climate change on women's sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Bangladesh. This role will provide logistical and administrative support including arranging meetings/workshops/travel, research activities, data collection, and program implementation across various climate-vulnerable areas, including Char lands, Haors, and urban slums.
