About the Role

The Head of Claims and Policy Benefit is responsible for overseeing the timely processing and adjudication of living and death claims as well as policy benefits such as endowment, fund payouts, maturities, dividends, loans, surrenders and redemptions. This role ensures the efficient and accurate management of claims, suspense clearance, fulfillment of policy benefit requests, and initiates projects focused on continuous process and systems improvements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in claims and management of life insurance policies, has strong leadership skills and commitment to Operational Excellence.

  • Key Responsibilities:

Claims Adjudication and Procesing:

  • Oversee the fair adjudication and processing of all claims and policy benefits, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of policy benefits, living and death claims
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve claims and policy benefit processing efficiency and accuracy

Suspense Management:

  • Manage the clearance of suspense accounts, ensuring outstanding items especially those within 90-day of fulfilment are resolved promptly.
  • Implement controls and procedures to minimize suspense items and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Process and Systems Improvement

  • Initiate and own projects that are directed towards improving claims and policy benefit experience.
  • Collaborate with IT and seek buy in of the distribution channels in implementing new technologies and system enhancements
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of process improvements and make necessary adjustments.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Provide clear direction and foster a culture of innovations, continuous improvement and operational excellence with the team
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant AIA guidelines and policies as well as regulation and local laws
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with claims and policy benefit processes.
