Job Title:

Senior Engineer, Facilities and Utilities

Job Description:

The Role:

  • This role is accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The position plays a key role in ensuring environmental control compliance, operational continuity, and advancing sustainability goals through system optimization and disciplined execution.

In this role you will:

  • Own and drive preventive maintenance programs for HVAC systems to ensure system reliability, environmental compliance (temperature, humidity, cleanliness), and operational stability.

  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of system upsets, applying structured methodologies (FMEA, HAZOP, 8D) to implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Process, Equipment, EHS, and external vendors to resolve issues, optimize HVAC performance, and support production operations.

  • Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives for HVAC systems, including energy efficiency, airflow optimization, and environmental stability enhancement.

  • Lead capital and improvement projects, with full accountability for scope, schedule, cost, contractor management, and quality delivery.

  • Drive ESG and sustainability programs, including energy reduction, carbon footprint optimization, and resource efficiency improvements.

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC system operation, maintenance, and optimization, preferably in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing industries (cleanroom experience highly preferred).

  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems, including air handling units (AHU), chillers, cooling towers, duct systems, exhaust systems, and cleanroom environmental control.

  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, air filtration (HEPA/ULPA), humidity control, and contamination control.

  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID, HVAC schematics, and airflow diagrams.

  • Demonstrated analytical capability with hands-on experience in data analysis, SPC, trending, and root cause problem-solving.

  • Familiarity with HVAC-related controls and BMS (Building Management System).

  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently drive issue resolution in a fast-paced, 24/7 operations environment.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across multiple functions.

  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and resilient under high operational demands.

Your success will be measured by:

  • High reliability and uptime of HVAC systems, ensuring uninterrupted cleanroom and facility operation.

  • Consistent achievement of cleanroom environmental specifications (temperature, humidity, particle count, pressure cascade).

  • Reduction of recurring system issues through robust preventive maintenance and effective root cause resolution.

  • Successful execution of projects within scope, timeline, cost, and quality expectations.

  • Measurable improvements in system energy efficiency, airflow balance, and operational performance.

  • Tangible contributions to sustainability and ESG targets, including energy savings and cost optimization.
