We are looking for a hands-on Equipment Engineer to support and improve the automated manufacturing equipment used to produce next-generation electrical systems.

In this role, you will work closely with maintenance technicians, operators, and process engineers to troubleshoot equipment issues, improve machine reliability, and drive continuous improvements across our production lines. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the manufacturing floor, solving real-world mechanical and automation challenges, and making production equipment run better every day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software-related equipment issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Partner with Equipment Engineers, Process Engineers, and Production Operators to identify opportunities for equipment improvements.
  • Support and improve automated production systems used in the manufacturing of advanced electrical components.
  • Work hands-on with roll-to-roll web handling and processing equipment, including rollers, drives, edge guides, brakes, and steering mechanisms.
  • Drive root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions for recurring equipment issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment uptime, efficiency, and production output.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with manufacturing equipment, automation systems, or production machinery
  • Experience supporting, designing, assembling, or maintaining automated manufacturing equipment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work hands-on with manufacturing equipment and collaborate closely with production teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to equipment issues in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience

  • Candidates may have experience in a subset of the following areas:
  • 3D CAD software for mechanical design or equipment modifications
  • PLC programming or device configuration software
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Discrete simulation modeling
  • Extracting and analyzing manufacturing or equipment performance data
  • Assembly, maintenance, or optimization of roll-to-roll manufacturing systems

Physical Demands – Manufacturing Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day. Position includes the ability to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use their hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and pull/push; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for extended periods of time. The employee must lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance (including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs). Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment – Manufacturing/Shop Environment

Includes a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and skin exposure to hazardous materials used during the material prep process.

PPE

May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump-caps, gloves, hair nets, masks, & clean-room frocks while adhering to the prescribed safety procedures.

$135,000$145,000 USD
