The role:
Do you have maintenance and repair skills like light plumbing, carpentry, painting and general construction? If so, this may be the perfect job for you! We are looking for someone to join our team as a temporary facility maintenance specialist to travel throughout Oregon and provide repairs and upkeep on our DMV offices. You will be responsible for processing work orders, prioritizing safety and security needs, and conducting the work needed to ensure offices are kept open and functional to serve customers.
This job posting is for temporary positions and does not include the typical benefits available for permanent employees. Temporary employees may be eligible for employee health benefits offered through the Public Employees Benefit Board (PEBB) as outlined in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

A day in the life:
Conduct facility maintenance and repairs at all DMV field offices, including furniture installation, basic plumbing repairs, painting, repairing gutters, replacing windows, fixing ceiling tiles, replacing HVAC filters and more.
Travel throughout Oregon to conduct repairs at field offices. Pick up and deliver equipment and material between offices and DMV headquarters, take trash to dump for disposal.
Prioritize work to maintain safety and security of offices. Plan work accordingly to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime or interruption to business.
Conduct site visits to evaluate needs.
Purchase supplies needed to complete work. Document all expenditures and work performed.
Maintain maintenance inventory at DMV storage locations.
Conduct ADA assessments at field offices and make adjustments as necessary to ensure compliance.
Work is primarily performed during normal working hours. Some disruptive projects may require occasional evening or weekend work.

Comprehensive and equitable base salary offer within the listed range. Through an equal pay assessment, we will determine the salary offer using the information you provide in your submitted application materials. The salary range listed is the non-PERS monthly salary range. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6.95%.

Minimum qualifications:
Two (2) years of:
general building maintenance;
carpentry;
electrical;
mechanical;
painting; OR
plastering experience.
A journeyman's license/card in any of the above trades will substitute for this experience.
Note: Be sure a copy of your journeyman's license/card is attached to your application form.
Special qualifications: Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

Temporary appointments may be full- or part-time and will not exceed six months or 1,040 hours.
