POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to join the Workplace Strategy team, responsible for managing all aspects of facilities and construction projects across BDC’s Real Estate network. This role is ideal for those with experience in Corporate Real Estate Environments. The Project Manager will oversee the design, construction, and management of multiple simultaneous projects, including developing feasibility studies, commercial interior layout plans, and strategies. The Project Manager will be accountable for directing an outsourced team of consultants, managing new and preferred suppliers, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring both excellent client and employee experience. The role further ensures compliance with corporate design and implementation standards, successful project completion, cost minimization, and exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize multiple ongoing projects at various stages, and maintain open, collaborative communication with internal and external stakeholders.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Manage all aspects of facilities and construction projects, including the preparation and coordination of interior layout plans, feasibilities studies, project plans, specifications, budgets, schedules, procurements, and reports.
  • Review bids, negotiate, and award contracts to resources retained to conduct projects effectively.
  • Maintain high internal customer satisfaction through timely and effective communications with clients and external resources.
  • Manage the purchasing of goods and services, approving all purchase requisitions and invoices related to facilities projects.
  • Perform facilities analysis with business center and/or department management, nationally, to identify physical and leasing requirements, conceive solutions, build consensus, and execute the solutions.
  • Inform and obtain buy-in from various internal and external resources to work towards BDC’s business objectives within a limited timeframe.
  • Negotiate with landlords for facilities, construction, signage, and project-related matters.
  • Willing and able to travel across Canada on a regular basis for the success of the project
  • Coordinate the design and implementation of comprehensive branding strategies to maximize BDC’s visibility while ensuring compliance with all levels of governmental requirements and adherence to established governance and standards.
  • Keep abreast of best project management practices by researching and evaluating methodologies, processes, and standards.
  • Ensure that facilities continuously meet environmental, ergonomic, health and safety standards and adhere to government regulations by coordinating the physical environment, integrating principals of business administration, architecture, behavioral and engineering science.
  • Ensure all aspects of the project process respect BDC governances, procedures, strategies, policies, standards and established budget thresholds.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of in corporate Real Estate, Construction Management and Design, Architecture/Interior Design, or workplace planning projects for large organizations.
  • FMP and/or PMP certification is an asset.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture and/or interior design.
  • Approved equivalence will be accepted.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Autodesk applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Acrobat, AutoCAD).
  • Working knowledge of interior construction and drawing detailing.
  • Solid knowledge of architecture/interior design processes, inclusive of space planning, budgeting, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), specifications, construction drawings, and contract administration.
  • Experience using project tools to manage all stages of the project life cycle.
  • Knowledge of agile approaches and ability to influence mindsets (change management).
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • Excellent priority and time management skills.
  • Great listening and communication skills; ability to negotiate and influence decisions.
  • Team spirit and self-starter.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid problem-solving and monitoring skills.
  • Rigor, independence, initiative, and effective stress management.

Language

  • Bilingual in both official languages, English and French.
  • Proficiency in solid presentation, oral and written communication skills is required.
