The Financial Services team is part of the SMB & Financial Services (SMB/FS) organization and is responsible for PayPal’s global financial services. Our financial services play a critical role in our customers’ lives and our broader ecosystem. Over 400M consumers and 35M merchants globally have access to our money management, credit & lending products, credit card, debit card, and pay later products, which provide them with convenient, flexible, cost-effective, secure and rewarding ways to borrow, save, and spend.

Job Description Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic and visionary Head Of Product VP of Product Management to lead the vision, strategy, vision, and execution for our pay later products globally.  This leader will own PayPal’s global pay later roadmap, including our geo-expansion plans, consumer products, direct to consumer (DTC) products, and merchant products.  This leader will be responsible for building world-class consumer and merchant experiences that deepen engagement, drive growth, and strengthen our brand.   To be successful, you will need to thrive on changing the status quo but also remain laser focused on working customer back, making every experience seamless, simple, and intuitive for both our consumers and merchants.  This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that requires a balance of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and a deep understanding of consumer and merchant behavior.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement product strategies that align to PayPal’s strategic objectives and ensure a cohesive and comprehensive vision for our global pay later products.
  • Product Development Lifecycle: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle from concept to launch including research, design, development, experimentation and iteration.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our partner teams including large enterprise/checkout and consumer as well as functional teams like design, engineering, commercial, sales, marketing, legal, compliance, risk, data, identity and customer service teams as well as partners (banks, credit bureaus, networks) to ensure product success.  You will need to facilitate communication and alignment across multiple departments and teams.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in the development and execution of enterprise-level strategic planning processes, aligning release and program roadmaps with the organization’s overarching vision and OKR’s. Ensure that all initiatives are strategically positioned to maximize their contribution to the company’s long-term success.
  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead and mentor a team of diverse product leaders and managers.  Foster a culture of working customer back, putting people first, winning as a team, innovation, growth and excellence. Participate in personal performance management and development activities including cross-training.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 20+ years of product management experience.
  • 10+ years of experience managing teams of product managers/leaders.
  • Prior experience in financial services and specifically the buy now pay later space.  We will also consider candidates with prior experience in credit, lending and adjacent domains.
  • Experience using AI to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of a team’s execution.
  • Deep empathy and appreciation for our customer needs.
  • Demonstrated track record of launching successful products for merchants and consumers across both mobile and web.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of functions ranging from business experts to developers.
  • Strong understanding of business KPI’s and the ability to drive them.
  • Experience in an agile development environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency dealing with product complexity and initiative ambiguity.
  • Experience multitasking and managing multiple releases concurrently.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment impacting global pay later products.
  • Experience launching and operating financial products in global markets.
