POSITION SUMMARY:
The Grounds/Equipment Operator is responsible for maintaining the buildings, grounds, and
equipment of Endicott College. This role performs a variety of tasks, including assisting with
event setups and breakdowns, handling routine maintenance and minor repairs, landscaping,
snow removal, and completing work orders. The position contributes to a functional, safe, and
welcoming campus environment. Flexibility, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative approach
are essential to success in this role.


RESPONSIBILITIES IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE TO JOB:
 Assists with the setup, breakdown, and cleanup of events and functions, focusing on timely
and efficient service.
 Moves and arranges furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed, following safety
guidelines.
 Performs grounds maintenance tasks such as planting trees and shrubs, moving lawns,
trimming hedges, and collecting leaves to keep the campus looking its best.
 Clears snow and ice from parking lots, walkways, and other areas to keep pathways safe and
accessible.
 Completes minor repairs and maintenance projects as assigned or in response to work
orders, including painting, plastering, and basic plumbing work.
 Troubleshoots and makes minor repairs to equipment to keep it working properly.
 Picks up trash and disposes of waste daily to keep the environment clean and safe.
 Performs miscellaneous tasks and assignments as directed to support department
operations.
 Participates in the on-call rotation policy to handle urgent needs and emergencies.
 Performs other duties as needed to help meet department and campus goals.


QUALIFICATIONS:
 A minimum of two years of experience in facilities operations, grounds maintenance, or
general repair work, preferably in a college or institutional setting.
 Proven reliability, strong work ethic, and a consistent record of meeting job commitments
and deadlines.
 Demonstrated ability to provide responsive and professional customer service, maintaining
a positive and helpful attitude in interactions with students, staff, and visitors.

 Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks and completing
documentation.
 Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team while holding
oneself accountable for individual performance.
 Ability to work overtime or flexible hours when emergencies and urgent needs arise..
 Practical skills and knowledge to perform assigned tasks effectively.
 Adaptability and a positive approach to handling varied responsibilities.
 A minimum high School Diploma or equivalent.
 Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform physically demanding tasks.
 Must provide proof of valid Massachusetts driver’s license and current DOT medical
certification (renewed annually).
 A current and maintained valid Department of Public Safety Hoisting License.
