Summary:
As an Operations Engineer, a typical day involves overseeing the smooth functioning of production systems and services, ensuring they meet operational requirements and service agreements. This role requires continuous monitoring, managing delivery processes, and promptly addressing any issues that arise to maintain system reliability and performance. The position demands coordination with various teams to uphold service standards and support operational excellence throughout the production environment.
Role Title: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
Tower Focus:
The Database SRE ensures the availability, performance, integrity, and recoverability of enterprise database platforms across relational and NoSQL technologies, on-premises and in the cloud. The role focuses on automating database provisioning, patching, backup/recovery, and performance tuning while applying SRE practices to reduce toil and improve reliability.
Tower-Specific Technical Skills:
Relational databases (RDBMS): Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL administration, tuning, and troubleshooting.
NoSQL: MongoDB, Cassandra, and Redis operations.
High availability & DR: Replication, clustering, Always On / Data Guard / RAC, backup & recovery, and disaster-recovery drills.
Performance engineering: Query optimization, indexing, capacity planning, and performance monitoring.
Cloud & engineered systems: Managed databases (AWS RDS / Aurora, Azure SQL) and Oracle Exadata / ExaCC environments.
Security & compliance: Database hardening, patching, access control, and audit / SOX-SOC compliance support.
Ways of working: Change / Incident management via ServiceNow and SLA-driven delivery.
Automation Skills (Python & Ansible in Database SRE Context):
Automate database provisioning, patching, and configuration using Ansible playbooks and Python scripts.
Build Python-based tooling for backup validation, health checks, performance reporting, and automated remediation.
Integrate database lifecycle operations into CI-CD pipelines and self-service workflows to reduce manual DBA toil.
Experience:
Required: 8 – 10 years of hands-on experience in Database SRE operations, engineering, and automation as described above.
Certifications (Added Advantage):
Any of the following tower-specific certifications will be considered an added advantage:
Oracle: Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) - Database Administration.
Microsoft: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) / MCSA SQL Server.
PostgreSQL / MySQL: EDB PostgreSQL or Oracle MySQL DBA certification.
NoSQL: MongoDB Certified DBA Associate.
Cloud: AWS Certified Database - Specialty.
Shift Details:

- RTO as per project guidelines
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 7.5 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering.
- This position is based at our Pune office.
