What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Be a part of the Bodyshop Maintenance Team
  • Operate and maintain hemming equipment according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Perform hemming processes on various automotive components, including doors, hoods, and trunk lids.
  • Monitor production output and quality to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and measurements to verify the accuracy and integrity of hemmed parts.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to identify and resolve issues related to hemming processes.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality in hemming operations.
  • Train and mentor hemming technicians to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain documentation of production activities, including reports, records, and maintenance logs.
  • Ensure proper preparation and application of creepage materials to hemmed components, following established procedures and standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify the adhesion, compatibility, and durability of creepage materials under various operating conditions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to source high-quality creepage materials that meet performance and cost requirements.
  • Document and communicate material specifications, application techniques, and quality control procedures to relevant teams.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to creepage material performance, including adhesion failure, leakage, and dimensional variations.
  • Implement preventive maintenance and calibration programs for equipment used in creepage material application.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require daily attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

What you’ll bring

  • 5-7+ years of professional experience in automotive production, with expertise in Hemming processes and optimization.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, or similar in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • Ability to read, understand, adjust and create a hemming method plan.
  • Ability to understand mechanical assemblies, complex stations, and automated equipment.
  • Proficient in Roller hemming head in TPM and repairs.
  • Be capable to modify the sheet metal for Master Parts and example parts for supplier review.
  • Strong knowledge about sheet metal / aluminum behavior during hemming process
  • Knowledge of hemming sealer application.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Having strong communication and presentation skills

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $110,000-$130,000

Internal leveling code: IC9
