Position Summary

Reporting to the Coordinator, Recreation, this part-time position is responsible for the design of personalized fitness programs based on the client’s individual health and fitness goals

Major Job Responsibilities

• Design personalized fitness programs based on individual or groups needs and goals
• Ensure fitness programs follow fitness industry standards
• Provide a safe and well-supervised learning environment
• Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere for participants to actively participate and excel
• Set-up and take down required equipment
• Maintain a safe, clean facility; including proper usage and storage of equipment
• Report any accidents, incidents, concerns or site damage to the Supervisor, Recreation
• Submit all required forms ensuring accuracy and completeness of information to immediate supervisor
• Establish positive relationships, clear communication channels and work cooperatively with all staff and participants
• Provide excellent customer service
• Attend and participate in mandatory staff functions: training, meetings and allocated program times
• Comply with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Perform all other duties as assigned in accordance with department objectives

Education & Experience

• Secondary School Diploma 3 years of experience in a related environment
• Post-Secondary Education in Recreation and Leisure Education or related field is preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in fitness and working with persons with disabilities is an asset
• Current CSEP-CPT or Certified Personal Trainer (Canfit Pro or equivalent)
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”
