Mach is a defense manufacturing company that builds munitions to help the United States win future wars. Backed by $85M in funding from top venture firms, our small lean team ideates, designs, manufactures, and sells cutting-edge weapons to the Department of Defense.
Mach Industries is seeking a Propulsion Integration Engineer to lead the design, integration, and testing of propulsion systems for our next-generation autonomous vehicles. At Mach, we exist to build the next-generation platforms that maintain an allied American edge. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing advanced propulsion systems that meet the critical needs of modern defense technology. The role will involve designing propulsion components, integrating them into unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), and executing rigorous testing protocols to ensure system reliability and performance.
The future of warfare is in decentralized unmanned systems—and our adversaries currently dominate the scaled production of these systems. To stay ahead, we must not only catch up, but leap ahead by creating a new class of hardware that provides a strategic dollar-to-dollar edge over our adversaries. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in developing propulsion systems that drive this next-generation technology. You’ll work at the forefront of defense innovation, collaborating with a small but highly capable team to design, test, and manufacture cutting-edge systems.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design and integration of propulsion systems (engines, fuel systems, components) for unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), advancing the next generation of defense technologies.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure aerodynamic performance, mechanical integrity, and system functionality, driving end-to-end development from concept to prototype testing.
Design and fabricate prototype components, testing them rigorously to meet performance goals and optimize propulsion system efficiency.
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for propulsion systems, ensuring they meet mission-critical performance, safety, and reliability standards.
Collaborate with external vendors, managing partnerships to ensure timely and successful integration of propulsion components into UAV platforms.
Support live demonstrations and field testing, providing technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance during tests and hardware evaluations.
Contribute to the development of manufacturing methods, ensuring that our propulsion systems can be produced at scale in decentralized, flexible factories to ensure supply chain defensibility and adaptability.
Drive continuous improvement in design and testing processes, ensuring we meet the high demands of decentralized, unmanned system production.
Maintain a focus on scalable, cost-effective solutions that create a strategic advantage in the evolving landscape of modern warfare.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of propulsion or propulsion integration experience, preferably with air breathing engines, rocket systems, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or similar platforms.
Proven ability to design, test, and integrate propulsion systems, from prototype through to operational systems.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with NX/Teamcenter and advanced CAD tools for component and system design.
Hands-on experience with jet engine testing, including test practices, instrumentation, data analysis, and performance validation.
Knowledge of Engine Management Systems (EMS) and experience with motorsport or OEM systems.
Practical experience working in a machine shop, with a working knowledge of shop safety protocols and procurement practices.
Active U.S. Secret security clearance.
