Our mission is to inspire entrepreneurs and shoppers to find something new. We buy great brands built on Shopify, unlocking liquidity for small business entrepreneurs looking to start new adventures. We manage nearly 50 brands with over 100,000 products across apparel, beauty, home goods, and electronics.
Our team of e-commerce experts and engineers uses our proprietary technology and tooling, and advantages from our size, to grow our brands at scale.
Two million people have purchased OpenStore products, and soon, we’ll launch a consumer shopping app, helping people discover products in an all-new way. OpenStore was started in 2021 by top investor and operator, Keith Rabois, a former executive at PayPal, LinkedIn, and Square, and a co-founder of Opendoor. We are backed with $150M+ from world-class investors such as Atomic, Khosla Ventures, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, and Lux Capital.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a vital member of our deal team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of OpenStore. Your responsibilities will include evaluating potential acquisition targets, assessing business risks and opportunities, and ensuring we secure companies that align with our strategic goals at a fair value. You'll influence the types of brands we acquire and help craft the strategic vision and growth plans for both individual acquisitions and OpenStore as a whole. Additionally, you'll oversee the integration and performance of portfolio companies, driving initiatives that foster long-term success and value creation. We are dedicated to your professional development, ensuring that this opportunity is one of your most rewarding experiences.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Analyze and Evaluate: Conduct in-depth analyses and due diligence on potential acquisitions. Assess how these businesses fit within the OpenStore ecosystem, employing both quantitative and qualitative metrics to determine their value. Identify key risks and actionable opportunities post-acquisition, supporting your findings with data and comprehensive memos for leadership.
Lead Your Deals: Take ownership of your own deals, making impactful decisions and executing strategies that align with our objectives.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with various teams, including Operations, Finance, Marketing, Product Development, and Engineering, as well as with the founders of target companies. Your collaboration will ensure a smooth acquisition process and seamless post-close integration.
Provide Strategic Insights: Share your insights with the operating team to help them understand market trends, competitive dynamics, and growth opportunities. Support them in implementing initiatives that enhance performance and drive value creation.
Embrace Growth and Improvement: Engage with a talented team that values teaching and learning. Our flat organizational structure allows for open communication, where every voice matters. Challenge and inspire your colleagues, while also being open to their feedback.
WHO YOU ARE:
You're detail-oriented. You possess a meticulous approach and pay attention to the finer details.
You've done it before. You have a background in deals or a strong understanding of business models, metrics, and financial analysis.
You're proactive. You take ownership of projects, driving them from start to finish while effectively navigating challenges. You’re not afraid to ask for help when needed.
You thrive in fast-paced environments. You excel in dynamic settings, contributing meaningfully to initiatives and adapting to new challenges as they arise.
WHAT YOU HAVE:
2-4 years of relevant experience in finance, consulting, or business analytics.
Prior M&A experience is a plus.
Familiarity with e-commerce and consumer retail is preferred but not mandatory.
Strong attention to detail and a collaborative spirit.
Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets; knowledge of SQL and coding is a bonus.
