Lead Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory

Cleveland Clinic’s Department of Pharmacy provides care for the diverse needs of more than 400,000 patients accessing Cleveland Clinic’s ambulatory pharmacies each year. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00AM – 3:30PM or 9:30AM – 6:00PM. 
 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Delegate and direct technical staff functions in an assigned pharmacy to ensure proper execution and delivery of pharmacy services, including work shift responsibilities and assignments, quality control monitoring, various project-oriented tasks, and training and orientation activities.  

  • Interact with and review work of caregivers, providing feedback to ensure maximized output and efficiency.  

  • Create and present quality control reports to management regarding team performance and throughput.  

  • Ensure caregivers are adequately trained and oriented to the work area.  

  • Provide onside re-training.  

  • Serve as a technical resource.  

  • Work in staff capacity and possess the ability to perform all technican functions.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • A high school diploma or GED. 

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).   

  • Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. You must register as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 6 months of hire.  

  • Three years of experience in an inpatient and/or advanced community practice setting. 

  • Ability to identify and develop solutions applying appropriate pharmacy standards and policies.  

  • Ability to educate and train others, including how to plan and direct their efforts.  


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physician demands include the ability to perform functions of the job while standing, reaching, stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of the job.

  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching; ability to transport up to 250 lbs.
