We are seeking a skilled Production Support Technician – Assembly with hands-on experience in assembly operations and supporting overall production activities to join our Mechanical Manufacturing team in Huntsville, AL. This role includes tracking and recording material usage, maintaining accurate documentation, and coordinating shipping and receiving as needed. The position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work effectively both on the production floor and in support functions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, adherence to strict aerospace specifications, and the ability to work within a team-oriented environment focused on continuous improvement and safety.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on assembly of products in accordance with work instructions, drawings, and quality standards.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and test equipment to assemble, fit, and install parts and components.

  • Conduct inspections of in-process and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.

  • Prepare and apply surface coatings (e.g., primers, sealants, bonding agents) according to engineering documentation and process specifications (preferred).

  • Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives within the production team.

  • Work in cleanroom environments or controlled areas when required.

  • Read and interpret basic technical documents, including blueprints and assembly procedures.

  • Track and record material usage, ensuring accurate inventory and job allocation.

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date production and quality documentation (e.g., travelers, checklists, shop floor control systems).

  • Support shipping and receiving activities, including packaging, labeling, and coordinating outgoing shipments.

  • Verify materials and components prior to assembly to ensure accuracy and quality.

  • Assist with inventory control, cycle counts, and material organization within the work area.

  • Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, or production issues to supervision.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with company standards.

  • Follow all safety procedures and quality requirements during assembly and handling of materials.

  • Support general production needs and cross-functional tasks as required.

  • Fast-paced, collaborative manufacturing setting.

  • May require standing for long periods, lifting up to 35 lbs, and wearing PPE.

  • Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet production schedules.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of experience in production control or precision assembly manufacturing.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering documents, and assembly instructions.

  • Proficient in using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.

  • Experience in aerospace coatings, including surface prep, masking, application of primers/sealants, or anti-corrosion treatments

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with ERP/shop floor systems.

  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or vocational training in manufacturing, aerospace, or mechanical technology preferred.

  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001 quality systems, or NADCAP requirements.

  • Certifications in aerospace manufacturing or coatings (e.g., NACE, SSPC, AWS) a plus.

  • Prior work in production control (organizing, tracking, shipping, etc.) a plus.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
