Expedia Group’s Platform and Service Analytics is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for Platform Analytics, a high-impact IC leadership role that will develop cross-domain Platform Analytics at EG. This role will partner extensively with senior product leaders across our Platform domains, serving as a key voice for Platform performance and using data and analytics to influence strategic decisions that enhance our capabilities, shape the future of our Platform, and support Expedia Group’s growth. This person will operate independently and influence broadly, provide deep analytical support and expertise to several domains, and interface regularly with executive (Sr Director+) leadership.
In this role, you will:
Develop Key Metrics and Measurements: Design and refine critical metrics that assess platform performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Automate Platform Metrics: Lead efforts to include and automate key platform metrics within Expedia Group's common analytics tools, streamlining access to insights across the organization.
Drive Experimentation: Lead the Platform team's experimentation strategy, incorporating A/B testing and quasi-experiments into the business rhythm to support data-driven decision-making.
Expand and Establish Platform Analytics Support: Expand analytics coverage across additional platform areas and conduct initial analyses to inform future strategy and areas of focus.
Deep-Dive Analytics Projects: Conduct in-depth analytics projects to address complex business questions and drive actionable insights, partnering with senior leaders to tell the story of platform performance and help set and measure organizational goals.
Experience and Qualifications:
You have a PhD, Masters or Bachelors (preference for Mathematics or Scientific degree) with 4-7 years work experience OR 7+ years of experience in a comparable data analytics role with relevant experience
You have advanced SQL and coding (Python, R) skills, transforming, and visualizing large datasets, as well as applying statistical and machine learning packages (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow) to derive impactful insights.
You are skilled in leveraging these tools for end-to-end analysis and predictive modeling, using appropriate algorithms and data transformations to deliver actionable recommendations.
You have advanced statistical knowledge and are adept at experimental design and hypothesis testing as well as applying statistical techniques to solve diverse business challenges effectively.
You are a strategic thinker, a strong influencer, and a skilled collaborator who works effectively with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners, and is adept at navigating complex organizational structures to achieve goals.
You excel in and enjoy building from scratch: transforming ambiguity into clarity, developing new metrics, sourcing data, and ramping on business context to quickly provide data-informed recommendations.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
