Dow has an exciting job opportunity as a Lab Analyst located in Plaquemine, LA!

Role Summary

Lab Analysts utilize knowledge to gain experience in how to perform routine analyses, evaluate the results, and calibrates and maintains analytical systems to provide analytical data to produce and release products in a safe and optimal manner.

Lab Analysts apply technical knowledge to perform routine analyses, evaluate and interpret results, calibrate and maintain analytical systems, ensuring accurate analytical data for the safe and efficient release of products.

Responsibilities – Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role

  • Route requests originating within the unit to the appropriate service provider.
  • Prepare basic calibration standards.
  • Perform basic calibration and maintenance of analytical systems.
  • Collect samples according to Sample Plan.
  • Perform routine analyses.
  • Use electronic tools such as required.
  • Evaluate validity of data, apply basic statistics, interpret results, and take appropriate action.
  • Monitor analytical systems, identify problems, conduct first-line troubleshooting, and escalate as appropriate.
  • Document, communicate and archive analytical results and calibration data.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures, and analytical work processes and tools.
  • Recommend improvements to EH&S and ODMS procedures and implement enhancements to analytical work processes and tools to strengthen overall operational performance.
  • Participate on analytical or plant improvement teams.

Qualifications - Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and one of the following are required:
    • A minimum of 2 years of relevant lab experience.
    • An associate’s degree or higher in a science discipline.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process


Preferred Qualifications - Additional skills and experience that enhance candidacy but are not required.

  • Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing laboratory.
  • Experience with Chromatography Data Systems, Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS) and other tools such as Master Task List and electronic log book.
  • Application of techniques in Polymer Chemistry, such as Mooney Viscosity and Melt Index.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related science field.

Skills - Core abilities and expertise required for success in this role.

  • Analytical Instrumentation Proficiency – Ability to operate, calibrate, and maintain a variety of laboratory analytical systems to ensure accurate and reliable data.
  • Data Evaluation & Interpretation – Skill in assessing data validity, applying basic statistics, and determining appropriate follow‑up actions based on results.
  • Laboratory Sampling & Testing – Competence in collecting samples according to established plans and performing routine laboratory analyses safely and accurately.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving – Capacity to identify issues with analytical systems, conduct first‑line troubleshooting, and escalate when necessary.
  • Documentation & Digital Tools Usage – Strong ability to document results clearly and use electronic systems such as LIMS, CDS, Excel, and other lab-related software.

Must be willing and able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation.
