Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees may also be eligible for performance-based case incentive awards.

Salary Range

$84,160.00 - $126,240.00

What Is the Opportunity?

Under general supervision, responsible for research, analysis and handling of complex compliance matters related to regulatory compliance management, compliance policies and procedures, and/or quality assurance/self-audits for monitoring the business areas to ensure compliance with applicable provincial and federal requirements relevant to the area. This includes promoting awareness of compliance issues, monitoring execution of Legal and Compliance strategies and work functions, monitoring success in implementing compliance actions, assisting in the development of compliance plans/programs, and/or quality assurance reviews and self-audits and resolving compliance issues in coordination with internal and external business/support units. Assists with the training and on-boarding of new hires.

What Will You Do?

  • Coordinate and participate in the review of routine changes in company processes, policies & standards; ensure that controls and processes are operating effectively by design.
  • Assist in planning and monitoring business controls by testing key attributes for different functional areas to verify their operating effectiveness.
  • Perform business impact analysis and financial risk assessment analysis; review and communicate the findings of these efforts with the impacted stakeholders (control owner, team manager, etc.), consult and recommend possible solutions.
  • Provide support to stakeholders on requirements for new and existing business solutions to assure compliance to standards and governing policies and procedures.
  • Responsibilities may include tracking, on a day-to-day basis and by utilizing various sources of information, new and amended legislation, regulations, guidance, requirements, and other items relevant to the industry, to assess the regulatory landscape and notify key stakeholders.
  • Maintaining legal and regulatory compliance by researching, tracking, and communicating specific requirements that can be impactful to various departments or business areas.
  • Developing and maintaining a compliance recordkeeping system.
  • Analyze and update existing compliance policies and related documentation, and possibly developing new compliance policies and procedures.
  • Advise, assist, guide and consult on issues of possible non-compliance and work with the various departments or business areas to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Makes recommendations for changes to policies and procedures when gaps are identified.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to lower-level associates and other functional areas.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains compliance assessment processes/tools associated with legal and compliance functions.
  • Provides recommendations; prepares, conducts, or facilitates training for related departments and individuals to ensure adherence to compliance obligations at all levels.
  • Assists in reviewing, monitoring, and/or providing detailed evaluations of processed work, providing recommendations for improvement to ensure consistent and superior compliance.
  • Manages compliance related projects or process re-design.
  • Provides technical expertise and support within business area.
  • Other duties as required.

What is a Must Have?

  • University degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in the insurance industry.
