Are you a tech-oriented and experienced attorney with a proactive mindset? F5 is seeking a solution-driven legal professional who is passionate about technology and action. Your role will involve building strong relationships with internal business partners to understand their goals and priorities while providing day-to-day legal support and guidance, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating global commercial agreements.

Leverage your knowledge of SaaS, generative AI, and cybersecurity to offer sound advice and counsel on new product initiatives, potential issues, and forward-looking strategies. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding business partners and peers through a variety of tech-related legal matters.

You will take the lead in handling contractual matters across corporate functions, fostering awareness within business teams to proactively identify and address potential legal risks. Collaboration is key, as you will work with the F5 team to develop innovative solutions that manage challenges on the legal horizon, strengthen relationships internally and with our customers, and advance opportunities for F5’s growth.

We are looking for a candidate with 4-6 years of experience in SaaS agreements and technology transactions, who has a solid understanding of the legal landscape surrounding generative AI. You should be inquisitive, practical, and business-focused, capable of presenting real-world, pragmatic advice in an approachable manner. This is a hybrid position based in Seattle, Washington, working out of F5’s headquarters, F5 Tower. You'll join F5’s global commercial legal team, working with a diverse group of attorneys worldwide as F5 continues its transition to a SaaS and AI industry leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day legal support, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of global commercial agreements related to SaaS licensing, product development, commercial models, and engagements with both customers and key vendors as well as contributing to the development and maintenance of F5’s core license and use agreements.
  • Identify and advise on legal risks and strategies related to the implementation of F5’s products and services, working closely with the compliance and business teams to ensure appropriate strategies are adopted and that existing processes are revised as needed.
  • Work in tandem with other F5 Legal & Compliance teammates to share your subject matter expertise and gain insights from their areas of specialization.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations, particularly regarding existing and emerging technologies, and share that knowledge to ensure an ongoing ability to ensure robust product area coverage and support for F5’s evolving product portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree and active law license in at least one state in good standing, with a willingness to join the WA state bar.
  • A keen appetite for innovation and a knack for creative problem-solving.
  • Deep curiosity and ability to quickly synthesize information.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Subject matter expertise in the drafting and negotiation of complex agreements.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • 4-6 years of combined in-house and law firm experience, preferably in technology, including exposure to regulatory work.
  • Ability to navigate a complex, nuanced, and evolving regulatory environment and provide clear, actionable advice to internal stakeholders.

The annual base pay for this position is: $173,553.00 - $260,329.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
