About the Role

We are seeking a self-motivated multi-disciplinary HW test engineer to define, design, implement, and continuously improve MFG test solutions. In this role, your contributions will ensure that Skydio’s products are defect free, exceed quality requirements, and function reliably for our customers.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Collaborate with product development, quality, MFG, and SW teams to define MFG test plan and product test specifications
  • Partner with the engineering teams to incorporate DFT feedback into product design
  • Design test stations that involve station HW and SW development to support MFG
  • Come up with GR&R and station audit plans to ensure station health is optimal for MFG
  • Work with MFG and SW infrastructure teams to integrate test stations into MFG process and internal test framework
  • Proactively identify test related issues through build cycles and drive for timely resolution

What makes you a good fit: 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience developing electromechanical MFG test stations.
  • Proficient in SW development - Python preferred. Solid OOP concepts required.
  • Ability to debug from system down to component level. Should be able to understand schematics and be comfortable using common lab equipment such as: DMM, Scopes, Logic analyzers, PSUs, Signal generators, etc.
  • Ability to analyze data to investigate test failures, assess design gaps, show process capability and equipment reliability (JMP/MiniTab/Matlab)
  • Expertise in communication interface protocols - UART, USB, I2C, GPIB, RS-232
  • Ability to supplement engineering work with technical documentation

Nice to have:

  • Strong CAD (Skydio uses CATIA) and mechanical fabrication skills
  • Electrical design and PCB layout to interface with DUT
  • Signal processing and statistical background
  • Develop dashboards to visualization and communicate key metrics

Compensation Range:

  • The annual base salary range for this position (spanning multiple experience levels) is $120,000 - 150,000*.  Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.
