This will be Whole Foods Markets 2nd Daily Shop location!

Introducing a new, quick-shop store format designed to provide customers in urban neighborhoods a quick, convenient shopping experience with easier access to the fresh, high-quality offerings they expect from Whole Foods Market. The new format, called Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, initially launched on the Upper East Side in NYC in the Fall of 2024.

Whole Foods Market Daily Shop will provide a convenient option for grab-and-go meals and snacks, weekly essentials, and a quick, easy destination to pick up ingredients to complete a meal with all items meeting our rigorous Quality Standards. Though smaller, the stores will still offer customer favorites, including an ample selection of fresh, seasonal produce, meat and seafood, prepared foods like sandwiches and pre-packed meals, breads, alcohol, and supplements, as well as a handpicked range of local specialties and our own 365 by Whole Foods Market brand.

Provides overall leadership to the Daily Shop Team Members. Responsible for all aspects of daily operations including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance and special projects as assigned. Accountable for Team Member hiring, development, corrective actions and separations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Daily Shop Store Leader in all areas of operations including inventory, safety, merchandising, financial and physical plant issues. 

  • Holds Team Members accountable for delivering outstanding customer service. 

  • Builds a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect and exceptional morale. 

  • Makes hiring and separation decisions. 

  • Accountable for monitoring and achieving sales, purchasing, and labor targets. 

  • Maintains proper product assortment, merchandising, and inventory control. 

  • Sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution. 

  • Fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale. 

  • Regularly inspect the store to ensure compliance with all programs, rules and standards. 

  • Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers; responds promptly to customer needs and questions. 

  • Selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover. 

  • Provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations. 

  • Consistently communicates and models WFM vision and goals. 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management. 

  • Food safety certification.  If not currently certified, will commit to completing certification within 6 months. 

  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills. 

  • Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner. 

  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures. 

  • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory. 

  • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate. 

  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications. 

Desired Work Experiences: 

  • 24+ months retail experience including 12+ months of team leadership experience.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift fifty pounds.  

  • In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours.  

  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.  

  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.  

  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.  

  • Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.  

  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.  

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
