The Opportunity:

The Recreation Worker reporting to the Executive Director or Recreation Manager, delivers an array of planned and spontaneous social, recreational, and therapeutic programs; and facilitates group activities for residents with differing abilities, interests, needs and preferences.

What you'll do:

Facilitates, encourages, supports, implements, and documents residents' care plans to participate in a variety of activities and therapeutic recreational programs. Delivers social and recreational programs including but not limited to: arts and crafts, sports, music, woodworking, cooking, gardening and physical exercise as directed; sets up and organizes supplies and equipment; demonstrates techniques; provides assistance and support to encourage success; and documents observations and resident participation.

What you'll need:

Certificate or Diploma from a recognized Recreation program or equivalent education and experience with seniors.

Experience working with seniors with moderate to severe dementia.

Physical and mental capacity to carry out the duties of the position

Understands and supports a social model framework

Current First Aid and Food Safe - Level 1 certificate required

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and English language proficiency

Class 4 driver's license an asset

Hours of Work: 8:30am - 4:30pm (Thursday - Monday)

Wage Levelling Salary: $28.95 per hour
