Focus of the Role

As Senior Software Solutions Specialist, you play a critical role in building and maintaining software, data, and system interface solutions that will enable process efficiencies, quality improvements, and system capabilities for the InfraCo business. You will bring your deep expertise and breadth of experience across numerous technologies, along with your ability to work closely with business subject matter experts, to translate business use cases into highly effective solutions to ensure the business is able to meet its strategic business performance objectives. You will have in-depth experience with Azure cloud technologies and ensuring strict security compliance for all components of your solutions. You will work within a high-performance DevOps team within the InfraCo business, who deliver a wide variety of IT solutions ranging from web applications, databases and data loads, automations, APIs, system interfaces and more.

What You’ll Do

Telstra InfraCo - Operations & Asset Management oversees Telstra's operations and asset management functions.

  • Database architecture and modelling, data transfers and transformations, PL/SQL and complex queries, performance, and optimisation (Oracle on-premises and Azure SQL in cloud platforms).
  • Design, develop and support scalable data solutions using Azure Cloud Services such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory.
  • Design, develop and support on-premises scripts and tools in languages such as C#/C++, Python, Perl, PHP.
  • Design, develop and support system interfaces (direct database connectors, SFTP and file based) and APIs to enable data flows between various solutions.
  • Ensure data security and privacy by implementing access controls, encryption mechanisms, and compliance standards.
  • Build and maintain Microsoft Server virtual machines and Azure/AWS cloud instances, ensuring compliance with O/S and software versions, access and security standards.
  • Working closely with the business stakeholders and subject matter experts to translate business requirements into technical stories, effective communication throughout projects and able to deliver iteratively in an agile DevOps environment.

About You

  • Proven experience as a data engineer or software engineer with a focus on data solutions, system interfaces and Azure technologies.
  • Strong expertise in data engineering concepts and technologies, including data modelling, complex PL/SQL, data ingestion, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration techniques.
  • Strong expertise in Azure Cloud Services, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Strong expertise is coding languages such as C#/C++, Python, Perl, PHP.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server virtual machines, O/S patching and security compliance.
  • Knowledge of data security, encryption, and compliance standards.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git and collaborative development methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
