As our Senior Assistant General Counsel, Global Litigation & Investigations, you will serve as an advisor and counselor on litigation, certain investigations and certain regulatory issues to the business. We need someone to be very involved and deeply engaged with the business and who desires working in a high energy environment. You must have strong interpersonal skills – you must be an excellent communicator to all levels verbally and in writing, a good listener, comfortable in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You should have a global perspective and desire to be part of a global team.

What you will work on

As our Senior Assistant General Counsel, Global Litigation & Investigations, you will serve as an advisor and counselor on litigation and regulatory issues to the business. You will manage both offensive and defensive commercial litigation matters. You will conduct and/or direct and advise on certain internal investigations and manage the defense of external investigations and other compliance matters. You'll be responsible for formulating and driving strategy, including actively managing outside counsel, working with internal investigation teams, expert and internal witnesses, facilitating discovery, and establishing and managing budgets.

This role partners closely internally with the VP, Global IP and Global Litigation, employment lawyers, executive leadership, investigations, HR and external counsel.

What you bring to nike

Requirements for the position include:

  • A Juris Doctorate degree
  • Minimum 8-10+ years of experience either within a law firm or within a law firm and corporation with primary emphasis on litigation
  • Extensive experience with Commercial litigation, including hands-on trial work at a team leadership level – whether first chair or second chair
  • A firm understanding of relevant compliance rules and requirements, including the laws and regulations governing U.S. companies doing business in non-U.S. locations, as well as an appreciation of pertinent accounting and finance principles
  • Demonstrated experience with governmental investigations and anti-corruption statutes
  • A strong grasp of employment, privacy, and other requirements relating to internal investigations
  • Seasoned communication skills—able to influence at a variety of levels and across functions in a complex matrix organization
  • Ability and experience working closely and collaboratively with global teams
  • Ability to work efficiently and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and with a demanding case workload, and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.
  • Ability to travel - 10-25 % global travel expected
