Main Purpose:

The ideal candidate will have experience in oil trading (ideally crude) and will support the team in identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and driving growth initiatives within the refining sector. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development within the commodities trading industry. This role will concentrate on the development of opportunities in North America.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience as an oil trader or in a similar role within the commodities trading industry.

  • Strong understanding of the refining processes and commodities market.

  • Experience in the North America market

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Fluent English

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Analysis in North America:

    • Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape in the refining industry.

    • Analyze market data to identify potential business opportunities and develop strategies to capitalize on them.

  • Business Development:

    • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the refining sector.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and industry partners.

    • Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve growth targets.

  • Commercial and Financial Discussions:

    • Engage in commercial (physical) and finance discussions with third parties regarding new acquisitions, financing, supply, and offtake deals.

  • Partnerships and Alliances:

    • Identify and negotiate strategic partnerships and alliances that align with the company’s growth objectives.

    • Manage and nurture relationships with existing and potential partners, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with terms.

  • Risk and Deal Management:

    • Conduct cost-benefit analysis and risk assessments for potential business opportunities

    • Monitor and manage physical risks and deals, ensuring all transactions align with the company's risk management policies.

  • Documentation Preparation:

    • Assist in the preparation of contractual documents for new deals, including term sheets and definitive documents, in collaboration with finance and legal teams.
