More About the Role:
This Test and Automation Lead opportunity on the U.S. Navy’s Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) will allow participation on a high-visibility DoD program that provides engineering support to the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), the largest information technology (IT) network in the world. This position will provide many opportunities to challenge and grow your skills as both a Systems Engineer as well as a People-Leader.
A successful candidate will lead by example with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, the System Modeling Language (SysML), and the Object-Oriented Systems Engineering Methodology, tailored for the SMIT Project to build the V&V artifacts within the Naval Enterprise Network (NEN) model. This modeling will achieve the goal of facilitating Digital Test Artifacts within the SVT Team as well as utilizing the NEN model for Dry-Run Test development, Government Witness Test execution, and auto-creation of Test Reports.
A successful candidate will also leverage and encourage the use of Test Automation Framework (TAF), such as Robot Framework, throughout his/her team. This activity will achieve the goals of leveraging a federated TAF suite of tools within NMCI to lead the way in developing automation that can be reused, as part of a Digital Engineering as a Service (DEaaS) offering.
What You'll Get to Do:
-Build and sustain a team culture focused on empowerment and opportunity, where each engineer is supported, encouraged to lean into tasks with confidence, and sees themselves as a highly valued Leidos contributor.
-Responsible to oversee and ensure that Digital Test Artifact (DTA) projected cost/resource efficiencies are achieved and maximized.
-Encourage and re-enforce Digital Engineering principles, while leading the Test and Automation Team and facilitate training for all new and existing team members as needed.
-Assist in leading and managing a team of remote Test and Automation Engineers, made up largely of Subcontractors, tasked with developing effective automation, and delivering digital engineering artifacts to the USN on-time and within budget.
-Assist in leading the team, by ensuring that proposals are provided accurately and on-time to the Proposal Operations team in a manner that ensures all labor is in-sync with R&A and Lab Ops assumptions and labor levels.
-Responsible for working closely with the Lab Operations Team, the Requirements and Architecture Team, and the Gov’t T&E Team to establish best practice for Test Automation, Test Execution, and Test Reports.
-Oversee and ensure that all automation activities are done in a robust and well-documented fashion and are in-sync with Gov’t T&E standards and guidelines.
-Responsible for ensuring that each Team Member is prepared, speaks authoritatively, and represents Leidos professionally in internal and external Technical Reviews.
-Complete monthly resource planning for the team as well as weekly gap analysis sessions to ensure that the monthly labor projections are kept up to date and have assignable causes for significant variances.
-Respond to Forecasting Challenges as they arise following monthly resource planning cycles.
-Complete weekly reviews of scheduled test activities to ensure that SLR3 performance is achieved, and that overdue / coming-due test events and deliverables are reviewed and dispositioned regularly.
-Coordinate testing activities with the R&A Lead as well as the Lab Manager to ensure that a holistic view of Testing is taken to ensure customer satisfaction.
-Responsible for minimizing team turnover and maximizing team efficiency, while also ensuring that each team member has a positive work/life balance as they seek to achieve their goals.
-Responsible to identify and grow leaders within the R&A Team and delegate, coach, and encourage those leaders to prepare the next Digital Engineering leaders within Leidos.
-Create, maintain, and deliver accurate and robust Test Reports, within the CSM NEN Model, that meet the Governance Team standards, while also initiating and curating informal and formal peer-reviews with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the published deliverable meets the SMIT standards for rigor and accuracy.
-Be an ambassador, and a leader of ambassadors for DE and Automation by being able to speak to the benefits of both approaches as compared to the DSEM and manual test process.
-Collaborate and coordinate with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
-Requires B.S. Degree and 8–12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6–10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain (in System Engineering, Software Engineering, or related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university).

-Able to synthesize knowledge from multiple domains to apply to new, complicated problems.
-Experience working in large enterprise operations environments that include: identification, development, analysis of enterprise IT activities, solutions/risk mitigations, artifacts and migrations.
-Experience applying systems engineering fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
-Experience in collaborating with other enterprise technologists both internal and external to resolve complex technical issues.
-Extensive Knowledge of and Experience with MBSE tools such as:
-No Magic’s Cameo Systems Modeler, Collaborator, Teamwork Cloud.
-SysML.
-Experience using Atlassian JIRA to define, schedule, and track work assignments within an engineering team.
-Must be able to work collaboratively and remotely in a team environment.
