A Day in the Life

Medtronic is looking for a Biostatistician to join our Medtronic Clinical and Regulatory Solutions (MCRS) team. In this role, you will apply statistical expertise along with SAS and R programming skills to support global clinical research initiatives. Working closely with our Statistical Programming team, you will contribute to generating high-quality clinical evidence, including analysis of real-world hospital data.

Reporting to the Manager of Biostatistics, you’ll be part of a collaborative team focused on delivering innovative and effective clinical solutions. This position has a hybrid working model, with smart working with a preference for candidates based in Rome.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Apply biostatistical methods to support research and development plans for medical device products
• Contribute statistical expertise throughout the product life cycle
• Analyze data to support statistical inference, and assist in developing tables, graphs, and study reports
• Collaborate with clinical teams and provide guidance to statistical programmers

Required Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or related field required, Master’s Degree is preferred 
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical trial design and/or clinical data analysis within the healthcare industry, academia, or research organization; or a relevant advanced degree with at least 1 year of related experience within biopharma or medical device indesty
• Proficiency in SAS and R programming

The ideal candidate would hold a Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or Epidemiology and have at least two years of experience in statistics within a Clinical Research Organization, the Medical Device Industry or Biopharma. Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice and regulatory compliance guidelines for clinical trials and medical devices, such as ISO and MDR, is valuable. A solid understanding of research data management and relational databases, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Word and Excel, is important. The role also benefits from the ability to communicate complex statistical concepts to non-specialists, strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, and a proactive, adaptable attitude in dynamic and evolving environments.
