Position Summary
The NOC Technician is a shift position responsible for network infrastructure surveillance, initial impairment diagnosis, and outage resolution according to Armstrong established guidelines across multiple technologies including Internet, Video, and Voice.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Isolate impairments by correlating data from network surveillance equipment and diagnostic tools and report information accurately to direct-fix organizations.
- Prepare trouble tickets and maintenance post notifications to document impairments including detection, diagnostics, escalation, and repair information.
- Collaborate with dispatchers, field support, customer service representatives, technical support representatives, and service providers to resolve network outages.
- Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new technologies in a compressed time frame.
- Identify relevant data when investigating abuse, spam content, and security incidents.
- Maintain accurate logs of network maintenance activities, analyzing the duration and potential impact to customers and services, and ensuring they are consistent with approved times.
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot physical transport impairments such as fiber, twisted pair, coaxial, transceivers, etc.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
- Experience in technical support and repair coordination with other departments.
- Broad knowledge of Internet, Video, and Voice delivery systems, HFC, Fiber Backbone, SONET and DWDM transport facilities, and last mile services such as DOCSIS and GPON.
- Basic understanding of various networking and communication protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, ARP, SSH, OSPF, BGP, etc.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Strong PC, technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to perform shift work.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and randomly selected holidays.
- Expect to do other duties as assigned.
