Job Description:

Provides supports to the HR department by ensuring organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. This role is responsible for maintaining up-to-date HR policies, supporting audits, monitoring recordkeeping standards, and assisting in implementing programs that mitigate risk and promote legal compliance across the organization.

THE ESSENTIALS:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook, HR policies, and procedures to reflect legal and regulatory changes.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate and complete HR records, including I-9s, personnel files, and training documentation.
  • Conduct periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Track and report on mandatory trainings (e.g., harassment prevention, safety compliance, wage & hour).
  • Assist in the investigation and documentation of employee relations matters, ensuring legal compliance and appropriate resolution.
  • Ensure proper classification of employees (exempt vs. non-exempt, contractor vs. employee).
  • Coordinate with Legal, Payroll, and other departments to resolve compliance-related issues.
  • Partner with HR leadership to deliver compliance training to managers and staff.
  • Stay informed of employment legislation and regulatory trends that may affect the organization.

CREDENTIALS:

  • Requires 1-3 years of experience; college degree with business coursework preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Individual must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making and problem solving.
  • Strong sense of follow-up.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Holds self accountable for high personal and professional standards of conduct.
  • Must be teamwork oriented.
