Job Description:
Provides supports to the HR department by ensuring organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. This role is responsible for maintaining up-to-date HR policies, supporting audits, monitoring recordkeeping standards, and assisting in implementing programs that mitigate risk and promote legal compliance across the organization.
THE ESSENTIALS:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Maintain and update the employee handbook, HR policies, and procedures to reflect legal and regulatory changes.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate and complete HR records, including I-9s, personnel files, and training documentation.
- Conduct periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Track and report on mandatory trainings (e.g., harassment prevention, safety compliance, wage & hour).
- Assist in the investigation and documentation of employee relations matters, ensuring legal compliance and appropriate resolution.
- Ensure proper classification of employees (exempt vs. non-exempt, contractor vs. employee).
- Coordinate with Legal, Payroll, and other departments to resolve compliance-related issues.
- Partner with HR leadership to deliver compliance training to managers and staff.
- Stay informed of employment legislation and regulatory trends that may affect the organization.
CREDENTIALS:
- Requires 1-3 years of experience; college degree with business coursework preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Individual must have excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making and problem solving.
- Strong sense of follow-up.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize.
- Holds self accountable for high personal and professional standards of conduct.
- Must be teamwork oriented.
