About the Team and the Role
The Apparel Authentication team protects buyers and sellers through eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee program, helping build trust across the marketplace. The team verifies the integrity and condition of high-value apparel before it reaches buyers.
As an Apparel Authentication Specialist, you will evaluate luxury and premium apparel, applying in-depth knowledge of garment construction, materials, stitching, hardware, and brand identifiers.
You will work under general direction, with decisions reviewed for accuracy and consistency, while collaborating closely with operations and support teams.
What You Will Accomplish
Authenticate new and pre-owned luxury and premium apparel in accordance with eBay standards, confirming authenticity and condition accuracy
Identify counterfeit indicators and document clear, evidence-based findings to support sound decisions
Inspect garments for brand consistency across materials, stitching, labels, care tags, hardware, and overall construction
Advance csophisticatedcases when necessary, applying established authentication frameworks and methodologies
Meet daily quality and productivity targets while maintaining high accuracy
Collaborate cross-functionally and stay current on brand updates, seasonal releases, and counterfeit trends
What You Will Bring
Experience in luxury apparel authentication, resale, retail, or fashion quality control
Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, labeling, finishing techniques, and brand-specific details
Ability to identify inconsistencies in stitching, tags, logos, hardware, and materials with strong attention to detail
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings accurately
Comfort working independently within structured operational workflows in a warehouse environment, including standing for extended periods and handling products
Proficiency with standard operating systems and internal tools
German and English language skills preferred
