What You'll Do

We are looking for an experienced Senior Gameplay Animation Programmer for our LEGO Fortnite Animation Programming team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining gameplay animation features to bring the world of LEGO Fortnite to life. You will work with the team to support the intersection between animation and gameplay, helping to solve challenging problems and build new technology to produce high-quality gameplay features that players will enjoy.

In this role, you will

  • Help to create and maintain the systems that express gameplay animation using C++
  • Debug complex issues at the nexus of animation gameplay
  • Work with animators, technical artists and technical designers to help them diagnose issues relating to emotes, character animation, events, etc
  • Troubleshoot animation-related issues and collaborate on solutions to common animation problems
  • Develop novel runtime and gameplay-focused animation tools and technology
  • Optimize and streamline gameplay animation systems to support a wide range of target platforms

What we're looking for

  • Professional experience in game and/or animation system development
  • Experience owning locomotion systems, 3Cs, gameplay animation look and feel
  • Comfortable with common runtime animation techniques: animation state machines, root motion, IK, pose warping, etc
  • Extensive experience in writing C++ applications
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with both technical and non-technical people alike
  • Performance-minded development and optimization skills
  • Experience with gameplay systems, such as character movement, collision querying, and action sequencing
  • Previous experience with Unreal Engine is a plus

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA, NYC, & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
